The Will of Mary Young

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Young of Hooknorton in the County of Oxford (being weak in Body but of sound Mind Memory and Understanding) as followeth. First I give and bequeath to my son John Young the Bed he now lies on with the Bedstead & Courtains Valans Bolster and pillow 2 Blankets 1 Quilt little Table 4 Elbow Chairs the largest ……..and the Box of Linnen markd J Y Also I give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Sarah Warmington my best Bed Curtains Valans Bedding Quilt and all the Furniture thereunto belonging nevertheless subject and chargeable with the following sums of Money that is to say to my Granddaughter Lucy Young To my son William’s Daughter ……..to my Grandau Mary Tredwell and to Hannah the Daughter of my son Nathaniel Young the sum of one Guinea eache But if my said Granddaughter Sarah Warmington shall refuse to pay the four Guineas as above mentioned Then it is my Will that either of my said Granddaughters last mentioned by paying the said four Guineas shall be intitled to the said Bed Bedding and all other the furniture thereunto belonging Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Hannah Tredwell all my wearing Apparel And whereas by the last Will and Testament of my Husband John Young deceasd there is a Bequest of seventy Pounds payable to my Daughter Mary Warmington two Years next after my Decease which said sum of seventy pounds I have already paid and have got a Bond for the Payment of the Interest of the said Seventy Pounds And also as I have a Right of the disposal of two Years Interest of the said seventy Pounds after my Decease I give and bequeath the same to my son Harris Young Also I give and bequeath to my Grandson Samuel Young my large Looking Glass And to his Brother Richard a Deal Coffer Also I give and bequeath to my Granddaughter Alice Tredwell my old Drawers Also I give and bequeath to m y Granddaughter Ann Tredwell my swing Looking Glass and to my Granddaughter Sarah Warmington my little looking Glass Also I give and bequeath to my Sons Harris Young William Young Nathaniel Young and my Daughter Hannah Tredwell all my Bed Linnen and Table Linnen to be equally divided among them Also I give and bequeath to the Dissenting Minister of Hooknorton that shall be the stated Preacher at my Decease the Sum of one Guinea And as my Daughter Warmington is now dead I desire that her Eldest Daughter Sarah Warmington mayl have one fifth part of all my Bed Linnen and Table Linnen with those before mentioned Also I give and bequeath to my Son Harris Young one clear Years Rent of one inclosed Ground called by the Name of Salmons Hatches Also I give and devise to my Son John Young two clear Years Rent of two inclosed Grounds commonly called or known by the Name of Sparkett Hatches after my decease Also my son Harris Young borrowed of me the Sum of Ten Pounds which is still owing to me Now I desire that the same may be paid to my Son Nathaniel Young Also all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattles and personal Estate whatsoever not hereinbefore disposed of I give and bequeath the same unto my Son John Young and my Daughter Hannah Tredwell nevertheless Subject to the payment of all my just Debts and funeral Expences And I nominate constitute and appoint my son John Young and my Daughter Hannah Tredwell joint Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the twefth Day of June 1774 the same containing two sheets of Papers The above mentioned ten Pounds payable to Nathaniel Young is a mistake for I desire it may be applied to put my two Grandsons Samuel and Richard Youngs Lives in the Copyhold Estate
