The Administration of Jane Wood

 

Know all men by these presents that We William Augustus Emery of Portsea in the County of Southampton Draper Fanny Ada Wood of Portsmouth aforesaid Spinster and John Quintrell of Portsea aforesaid Draper are held and firmly bound to Charles Richard by Divine Permission Lord Bishop of Winchester in the sum of Two thousand pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop or to his certain Attorney his Executors Administrators or Assigns to which payment well and duly to be made we oblige ourselves and each of us by himself herself and themselves for the whole our and each of our heirs executors and Administrators fairly by these presents sealed with our Seal Dated the Seventh day of August in the twenty first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom and Great Britain and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty seven

 

The Condition of this Obligation is such that if Helen Charlotte Emery the Wife of the above bounden William Augustus Emery the Administratrix of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of Jane Wood late of Portsea in the County of Southampton aforesaid Widow deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased which have or shall come into the hands possession or knowledge of her the said Helen Charlotte Emery or unto the hands or possession of any person or persons for her and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Consistory Court of the said Lord Bishop at or before the Seventh day of February next ensuing and the said Goods and Chattels and all the Goods Chattels and credits of the said Deceased at the time of her decease which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said Helen Charlotte Emery or into the hands of any other person or persons for her do well and truly administer according to law.  And further do make or cause to be made a true and perfect account of her said Administration at or before the seventh day of February next ensuing and all the rest and residue of the said Goods Chattels and Heredits which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration accrued the same being first examined and allowed by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said Court shall deliver and pay unto such person and persons respectively as he the said Judge or Judges by his or their decree or sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of the late Act of Parliament made in twenty second and twenty third year of the Reign of the late Sovereign Lord King Charles the Second entitled “An Act for the better settling Intestate effects” shall limit and appoint

 

And if it shall hereafter appear that any last Will and Testament was made by the said deceased and the Executor or Executors therein named do exhibit the same into the said Court making request to have it altered and approved accordingly if the said Helen Charlotte Emery being hereunto required do render and deliver the said Letter of Administration approbation of such Testament being first hand and made in the said Court then this Obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue

On the Seventh Day of August One thousand eight hundred and fifty seven Administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits which were of Jane Wood late of Portsea in the County of Southampton and Diocese of Winchester Widow deceased was granted and committed to Helen Charlotte Emery the Wife of William Augustus Emery of Portsea aforesaid Draper the daughter of the said Deceased she having been first duly sown well and faithfully to administer.  And she further mad Oath that the said deceased died on the twenty sixth day of July Last.

And that the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased do not amount in value to the sum of One thousand pounds.
