The Will of John Witt

 

In the Name of God Amen I John Witt of the Parish of Ebsden in Shookrow in the County Oxon Yeoman being weak and infirm in Body but of sound and disposing Mind and Memory for which I bless God Do make this my last Will and Testament I do resign my Soul into the hands of a merciful God in hopes of a Joyfull Resurrection at the last day and my Body to the Earth to be plain but decently interr’d and after my Debts and Funeral Expences be paid I leave as follows Item I leave & bequeath unto my kinsman William Currer of the Parish of Burghfield in the County of Berks Executor to this my last Will Excepting a few Leagues which is as follows Item I leave and bequeath to my Daughter in Law Rachel Harden five pounds lawful Money of Great Britain Item I leave and bequeath to my Son in Law John Lovejoy Two pounds in lawful Money of Great Britain Item I leave and bequeath unto Mary Currer Five pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain In witness whereof I have set my hand 23 May 1779- the Mark of X John Witt – Witnesses – Peter Norris – William Smith
