The Will of The Rev. Thomas Williams

IN THE
NAME OF GOD AMEN
I Thomas Williams of Gosport in
the County of Southampton Clerk
being weak in Body but of sound
and disposing mind and memory do
make my Last Will and Testament
in a manner following first I
commend my soul to God in hopes
through the merits of Jesus
Christ to obtain Eternal Life my
Body I commit to the Earth to be
decently buried according to the
direction of my Executrix and
Executor hereinafter named and
as for and concerning all my
worldly Estate I give bequeath
and dispose thereof as followeth
(that is to say) I do give
devise and bequeath unto my
daughter Rebecca the sum of one
hundred pounds to be paid to my
said daughter when she shall
attain to the age of one and
twenty years and all the rest
and residue of my Money Goods
Chattels Plate Effects and
Estate whatsoever as shall be
any way due owing or belonging
unto me at the time of my demise
I give devise and bequeath the
same unto my beloved wife
Rebecca and whereas there is
certain legacies which shall be
due at the death of some of my
Relatives in the principality of
Wales I do also give devise and
bequeath the same whatsoever it
may be unto my said wife Rebecca
and I do hereby nominate and
appoint my said wife and my
Brother in Law James Hammond of
Gosport aforesaid Brewer
Executrix and Executor of this
my Last Will and Testament
hereby revoking all former and
other Wills and Testaments by me
at any time heretofore made and
I do ordain and ratify these
presents to stand and be for and
as my only Last Will and
Testament In Witness whereof I
have to this my Last Will and
Testament set my hand and seal
this Third Day of October in the
Twenty Sixth year of the Reign
of his Majesty King George the
Second and in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred
and fifty two

who in his presence and at his
request and in the presence of
each other have subscribed our

THIS WILL was proved at London
the Tenth Day of July in the
Year of our Lord One Thousand
seven hundred and seventy before
His Right Worshipfull George
Isay Doctor of Laws Master
Keeper or Commissary of the
prerogative Court of Canterbury
Lawfully Constituted by the oath
of Rebecca Williams Widow the
Relict of the deceased and one
of the Executors named in the
said will to whom administration
was granted of all and singular
the Goods Chattels and Credits
of the said deceased having been
ffirst sworn by Commission duly
to administer power reserved of
making the like grant to James
Hammond the other Executor named
in the said will when he shall
apply for the same
