The last Will and
Testament of me Richard Williams of Chesham in the County of
Bucks, Draper first I give And devise to my Son Charles Williams
All those my freehold messuages Lands Tenements and
hereditaments situate lying and being in Bampton in the County
of Oxford And at Coat And Aston in the Parish of Bampton
aforesaid which were devised to me by the will of my late
brother Joseph Williams To hold the same with their
Appurtenances unto him my said Son Charles Williams And his
Assigns for and during the term of his natural life he repairing
and keeping the said Premises in good and sufficient repair and
committing no wast thereon And immediately after his decease
I give and devise the
said Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments with their
appurtenances to and to the use of all and every the Child and
Children of him my said Son lawfully to be begotten to be
equally divided or among them if more than one share and share
alike as tenants in common And of the several and respective
heirs of all and every such Child and Children for ever And in
default of such Issue I give and devise the said Messuages Lands
Tenements and hereditaments with their Appurtenances unto my
daughters Ann Williams and Latilia Williams To hold to them
their heirs and Assigns for ever As Tenants in Common And not as
joint Tenants subject and chargeable nevertheless to and with
the payment of an Annuity or yearly sum of ten pounds of lawful
of Great Britain to my daughter in Law Ann Williams wife of my
said son and her Assigns for and during her natural life clear
of over and above all Parliamentary and other taxes and
deductions whatsoever On two of the most usual ffeasts or days
of payment in the year (that is to say) the feast of the
Nativity of St John the Baptist and the Birth of our Lord Christ
in every year by even and equal portions the first payment
thereof to begin and be made on such of the said ffeasts As
shall happen after my decease And in case the said Annuity or
yearly sum of ten pounds or any part thereof shall be behind and
unpaid for the space of thirty days next after either of the
said ffeasts or days hereinbefore appointed for payment thereof
and whereon the same ought to be paid as aforesaid then and so
often from time to time as it shall so happen it shall and may
be lawful to and for my said daughter in Law And her Assigns
into and upon all or any part of my said Messuages Lands
Tenements and hereditaments charged with the said Annuity As
aforesaid to enter and distrain for the same And the distress
and distresses then and there found to detain impound and keep
or otherwise dispose of as in cases of rent reserved On Common
demises until thereby or therewith or otherwise the said Annuity
or yearly Sum of ten pounds And all arrears thereof if any And
all costs and charges from time to time attending such distress
shall be fully paid and satisfied And I do hereby direct and
order that in case the said Annuity or any part thereof shall be
behind and unpaid for the space of sixty days next after any or
either of the said ffeasts or days of payment whereon the same
ought to be paid as aforesaid then and so often from time to
time as it shall so often happen it shall and may be lawful to
and for my said daughter in Law and her assigns into and upon
all or any part of my said Messuages Lands Tenements and
hereditaments charged with the said Annuity as aforesaid to
enter and .... and take the rents Issues and Profits thereof and
of any part and parcel thereof to her And their own use until
thereby or therewith or otherwise the said Annuity or yearly Sum
of ten pounds And all arrears thereof then due or that during
such possession shall grow due and all costs and charges
attending such entry upon and perception of the rents Issues and
profits thereof And all damages to be sustained by my said
daughter in Law or her Assigns by reason of the nonpayment
thereof shall be fully paid and satisfied Also I give and
bequeath to my said son Charles Williams the legacy or sum of
one hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid
out of my Personal Estate within one month after my decease And
as to all my ready monies in the public funds mortgages bonds
notes and Securities for money debts to me owing stock in Trade
Goods Chattels furniture Implements of household plate china
linen and woollen And all the rest residue and remainder of my
Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever And of
what nature sort or kind soever the same is are can shall or may
be at the time of my decease which shall remain after answering
satisfying and paying all such just debts at the time of my
decease my funeral charges the expences of proving this my Will
and all other charges & expences incident thereto and the
pecuniary Legacy hereinbefore And also the three several
pecuniary legacies hereinafter by me bequeathed I give and
bequeath the same and every part thereof to my said daughters
Ann Williams and Latilia Williams equally to be divided between
them share and share alike And I hereby nominate and appoint my
said daughter Ann Williams my brother in Law Thomas Collett of
Marlows in the Parish of Hemel Hempsted in the County of
Hertford Gentleman and John Edwards of Chesham aforesaid Grocer
Executrix and Executors of this my Will hereby revoking and
making void all former Wills and Codicils by me made declaring
this only to be my last Will and Testament And I do hereby order
and direct that my said daughter Ann Williams the said Thomas
Collett and John Edwards shall and may deduct and retain out of
my said Personal estate all their reasonable costs and charges
in or about or relating to the Execution of this my Will And
that they shall not be answerable the one for the other or
others nor for the Acts receipts or disbursements of the other
or others but each for his or her own Acts only nor shall be
answerable or accountable for any loss that may happen in or
about the Execution of this my will unless it be through their
wilful default And I give and bequeath to my said daughter Ann
Williams my said brother in Law Thomas Collett and the said John
Edwards the legacy or sum of ten pounds apiece of lawful money
of Great Britain for their care and trouble in the Execution of
this my Will In witness whereof I the said Richard Williams the
Testator have to the first sheet of this my last Will and
Testament contained in two sheets of paper set my hand and to
this second and last sheet hereof have set my hand and seal the
second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and four Rd Williams Signed sealed published and
declared by the said Richard Williams the Testator as and for
his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his
presence and at his request and in the sight and presence of
each other have subscribed our names as witnesses to the same

I Richard Williams of
Chesham having made published and declared my last Will and
Testament contained within bearing date the second day of July
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four and
now by this Codicil do ratify and confirm the same only
appointing my brother in Law Mr Wm Collett of Hampsted in the
County of Hertford Grocer one of my Executors instead of my late
friend Mr John Edwards deceased And I give my said brother in
Law Mr Wm Collett the Sum of ten pounds for his trouble dated
the 28th Day of April one thousand eight hundred and nine Rd

this Codicil do ratify and confirm the same only appointing Mr
Joseph Hight of Two Waters in the County of Herts one of my
Executors instead of my brother in Law Mr Wm Collett late of
Hampsted deceased And I give the said Mr Jos Hight the Sum of
ten pounds for his trouble dated the eighth day of December One

Whereas I Rd Williams
of Chesham in the County of Berks Draper have made my last Will
and Testament in writing bearing date the second day of July in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four and
have thereby nominated and appointed my daughter Ann Williams my
brother in Law Thomas Collett of Marlow in the Parish of Hemel
Hempsted in the County of Hertford Gentleman And John Edwards of
Chesham as aforesaid Grocer Executrix and Executors of my said
Will and have also by my said Will given and bequeathed to my
said Daughter Ann Williams the said Thomas Collett and John
Edwards the legacy or Sum of ten pounds apiece for their care
and trouble in the Execution of this my Will And whereas I have
made a Codicil to my said Will bearing date the twenty eighth
day of April one thousand eight hundred and nine And have
thereby appointed my brother in Law William Collett of Hampsted
aforesaid Grocer an Executor of my said Will instead of the said
John Edwards who was then dead and have by my said Codicil given
to the said William Collett ten pounds for his trouble And
whereas I have made another Codicil to my said Will bearing date
the eighth day of December one thousand eight hundred and
thirteen and have thereby appointed Joseph Hight of Two Waters
in the County of Hertford An Executor of my said Will instead of
the said William Collett who was then dead and have by my last
mentioned Codicil given to the said Joseph Hight the Sum of ten
pounds for his trouble And whereas the said Thomas Collett hath
also lately departed this life so that my said daughter Ann
Williams And the said Joseph Hight are the only surviving
Executors of my said will Now I do by this writing annexed to my
said Will, will and direct that the said Joseph Hight shall not
be an Executor of my said Will but that in his room and stead I
do appoint William Hancock Biggs of Chesham aforesaid Gentleman
And my brother Samuel Williams of Kingston Lisle in the County
of Berks ffarmer to be two of the Executors of my said Will
jointly And together with my said daughter Ann Williams And I do
hereby nominate and appoint my said daughter Ann Williams
William Hancock Biggs and Samuel Williams the Executrix and
Executors of my said Will as fully and efectually to all intents
and Purposes as if they only and no other Person or Persons had
been by me originally and by my said Will constituted and
appointed Executors thereof I give and bequeath to the said
William Hancock Biggs and Samuel Williams the Sum of twenty
pounds apiece of lawful money of Great Britain for their care
and trouble as two of my Executors And I hereby revoke and make
void the bequest in and by my said Will to the said Thomas
Collett and John Edwards of ten pounds apiece and the legacy of
ten pounds in my first Codicil to the said William Collett and
also the legacy of ten pounds in and by my last mentioned
Codicil to the said Joseph Hight And I do hereby ratify and
confirm my said Will And all the devises and bequests therein
contained and not hereby altered or revoked And I ordain this
writing to be a Codicil to my said Will And direct it to be
taken as part thereof In witness whereof I the said Richard
Williams have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty third day
of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and

Proved at London with
three Codicils 24 March 1820 before the worshipful Jessee Addams
Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oaths of Ann Williams .. the
daughter William Hancock Biggs and Samuel Williams the brother
the Executors named in the third Codicil to whom Admon was
granted having been first sworn duly to Administer |
