The Will of Joseph Williams

 

In the Name of God Amen I Joseph Williams of Chimney in the County of Oxford, Yeoman being weak in Body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding do make my last Will and Testament in manner following And first I will that all my just Debts and Funeral expences be duly paid and discharged by my Executor hereinafter named And as to my worldly property I dispose of it as follows Viz I give devise and bequeath to my son Joseph Williams all my Freehold land meadow Ground commons Truelands and mathes with whatever else belongs to the same situate being or lying in the Common fields meadows &/c of Aston and Cote in the parish of Bampton I give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof to my said son Joseph Williams his heirs and assigns with full powers to dispose of the same as he or they shall judge proper Also I give devise and bequeath to my said son Joseph Williams my old House Garden and premises at Cote in the said parish of Bampton with the Commons that belongeth or appertaineth thereto the same and every part thereof I give devise and bequeath to my said son Joseph Williams his heirs and assigns with full power to dispose of the same And I likewise give devise and bequeath to my son Joseph Williams all the rest and residue of my estate Household Furniture Monies Goods Hereditaments and Effects to me belonging the same and every part thereof I give devise and bequeath to my son Joseph Williams but nevertheless chargeable with payment of Four pounds of Lawful money of the united kingdom Vizt I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Williams the sum of One pound I give and bequeath to my Old Servant Mary Stone the like sum of One pound I give and bequeath to Susannah Gascoigns the like sum of One pound and also I give and bequeath to William Holloway Sen. of Bampton the like sum of One pound of like lawful money of the united kingdom to be paid to each of them in three months after my decease or to their assigns in case of their death  And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son Joseph Williams sole and only executor of this my last will and testament  In Witness hereof I the said Joseph Williams have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and nineteen,   The mark of Joseph X Williams

Signed sealed published and Declared by the said Joseph Williams Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of Us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto   Violetta Pinnock   John Saggett    William Pinnock

 

This will was proved at Oxford on the 26th day of May in the year of our Lord 1821 By The Reverend Peter Maingy Clerk Master of Arts Surrogate of the Reverend George Turner Clerk Master of Arts Official principal of the Reverend  the Archdeacon of Oxford lawfully constituted by the Oath of Joseph Williams the sole Executor therein named to whom Admon was granted being first sworn duly to administer.
