The Will of Thomas Widdows
The
last Will and Testament of me Thomas Widdows of Hooknorton in the County
of Oxford being weak in Body but of sound Mind Memory and Understanding
First of all I will that all my just and lawful Debts Legacies and
funeral Expences be fully paid and discharged by my Executrixes
hereinafter mentioned I do also give and devise to my daughter Hester
Kirtland Wife of Richard Kirtland All that my Messuage or Tenement in
which I now inhabit and dwell together with all and singular Outhouses
Buildings Yards Backsides Gardens and Appurtenances thereunto belonging
situate in Hooknorton aforesaid And also all my Household ffurniture
Tools Implements of Husbandry and Dairy Utensils for and during the Term
of her natural life and after her decease I give and devise my said
Messuage or Tenement and all and singular the Appurtenances with my
Household ffurniture Tools Implements of Husbandry and Dairy Utensils to
my Grandson Henry Kirtland and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I
give and devise to my Grandson Henry Kirtland and to his Heirs and
Assigns for ever All that my share in the Close and Appurtenances called
Locket’s close Also I give and devise to my Daughter Hester Kirtland all
my Monies and Securities for Money whether on Mortgage Bond Notes of
Hand either on my own Account or jointly with others, excepting the sum
of seventy Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain which I give to my
Daughter Elizabeth Reeve within twelve Months next after my decease
Provided all Securities which I have jointly entered into with my son in
Law Reeves be cancelled at the time of the payment of the above
mentioned Legacy But in case my said Daughter Elizabeth Reeve should not
be living at that time then I will that the said sum of Seventy Pounds
shall be left in the hands of my Executrixes hereinafter mentioned and
lent out on securities and the Interest regularly paid to the children
of the Body of my said Daughter Elizabeth during their Minority and
equal shares of the Principal shall be paid them as they respectively
attain the Age of twenty one Years Also I give to my grandson Thomas
Widdows Reeves the sum of three Guineas to purchased him a watch Also I
give my own watch to my Grandson Henry Kirtland Also I give my silver
top and Whip and one pair of spurs to my Grandson Edward Reeve Also I
give a Gilt Box to my Grand Daughter Elizabeth reeve also I do empower
my Executrixes to purchase a silver Table spoon and give it to my Grand
daughter Ann Reeve Also I will that my best saddle and Bridle and Gun
shall be sold to defray the Expences of setting a pair of Grave stones
on my Grave as soon as is convenient after my decease Also I do give all
my Wearing Apparel to my two daughters Elizabeth reeve and Hester
Kirtland to be by them equally divided between each of their children
for their own wear only Lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint my
daughter Hester Kirtland and my grand daughter Hester Kirtland joint
Executrixes of this my last Will hereby disannulling and making void all
former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and
establishing this and no other as my last Will and Testament In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this sixteenth day of
January one thousand eight hundred and two Thomas Widdowes
