In the name of God Amen
the
Eighteenth day of November in the seven and twentieth yeare of
the Reigne of our gratious King Charles over England or 1648 I
Gennett Whytell of Dykehead within the parish of Bowes and
County of Yorke widdow sicke of body but of good and perfect
remembrance thanks be given to Allmightie God, doo make and
ordaine this my last will and Testament contayning herein
my last will in manner and forme Following, First I give and
bequeath my soule into the hands of Jesus Christ my Saviour and
Redeemer and my body to be buried within the parish churchyard
of Bowes aforesaid when it shall please God to take me out of
this wicked world and for the rest of [?] my worldly goods the
which it hath pleased God to endow me with I give and bequeath
as Followeth. Imprimis I give unto my oldest daughter Alice the
wife of Anthony Aldersonn forty shillings. Item I give unto her
sonne John fortie shillings. Item I give unto the other six of
her children twenty shillings a yeare. Item I give unto my sonne
in Lawe tenn shillings in full discharge of all filiall and [childs?]
portions. Item I give unto my loveing Sonne in Lawe John Laidman
Fifteen shillings and to my daughter Margaret his wife three
pounds and to her five children twenty shillings a peece. Item I
give unto my sonne Anthony tenn pounds and to my sonne Richard
other tenn pounds. Item I give and bequeath unto my two
daughters Mary and Agnes five pounds a peece. Item I give to
Thomas Hamby Sonne of Thomas Hamby late deceased an Ewe lambe.
Item I give unto Margaret Johnson Eight shillings Item I give
unto the poore of the parish Fortie shillings. Also I doo
intreate Leo: Laidman and William Aldersonn of Gillmanby to
stand supervisours to see that my last will and Testament well
and truly performed. And lastly I doo make and ordaine my sonne
Anthony Whytell and my sonne John Laidman my Executors for the
true performance of this my last will and Testament my debts
legacies and funerall expenses discharged the residue of my
goods I give unto my Executors for [theire paines?] In wittness
whereof the said Jennett Whytall have hereunto sett my hand and
seale the day and yeare first above written. Sealed Signed and
delivered in the presence of [??] Marke Parker Margarett Johnson

This
will was proved at London the third day of August in the yeare of our
Lord one Thousand six hundred ffiftie two before the Right
Worshipfull Sr Nathaniel Bront [?] knight Doctor of Lawe and
Master or Keeper of the prorogation court, by the oath of
Anthony Whitell and John Laidman joynt Executors named in the
said will To whom was committed Administration of all and
singular the goods Chattels and debts of of the said deceased,
they being ffirst severally sworn (by Commission) [?] and
