The Will of Thomas Whittingstall

 

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Wittenstall of Kelshall in the county of Harts yeoman being sicke in body but of perfect mind doe make this my last will and testament First into the hands of God my creator I comend my soule trusting through the meritts of his onely sonne my Saviour Jesus Christ to find a joyfull resurrection my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my sonne James Wittenstall And after all that is transitorie that is att my owne dispose I bequeath in manner and forme following To my sonne Thomas Wittenstall I give all that money which is due from S[i]r William Smith paying out of it or causing to be paid unto Mary Clarke my daughter the now wife of Tossell Clarke the sume of twenty pounds within three months after the receipt of the said money And further to the said money Clarke I give our Rood (¼ acre) of land lying in Kelshall ffeirs1 upon Harwell Hill between the lands of James Willymott Esquire on the west and James Wittenstall on the east butting upon the lands of James Willymott Esquire on the south and Thomas Larrimer on the north To Mary Clarke the daughter of Tossell Clarke I give all my goods which are in my lodging chamber at the sealing of this my will To Anne Clarke another daughter of the said Tossell Clarke I give a table and cupboard standing in the ffire roome To Tossell Clarke my sonne in lawe I give a great oaken chest standing in the lower lodging roome To Thomas Wittenstall my sonne I give three pounds tenne shillings due upon bond from John Stolen of Tharsed Baker to be paid upon the day of death of the said John or upon the day of mariage hee the said Thomas Wittenstall paying out imediatly upon the receiving of it twenty shillings to my daughter Mary Clarke the wife of Tossell Clarke And I doe appoint nominate and ordaine the said Thomas Wittenstall my sonne sole executor of this my last will and testament In witnes whereof I have sett my hand and seale the eight and twentieth day of July In the year of our Lord God one Thousand six hundred sixty and seaven / Thomas Whittenstall /
