The Will of Mary Wells

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Wells of Dunstan in the Parish of Corringham in the County of Lincoln Spinster which I make in manner following Whereas under and by virtue of the last Will and Testament of my late dear brother Williamson Coles Wells Clarke deceased bearing date the twentieth day of August one thousand eight hundred and thirty five and my sister Elizabeth Wells are entitled as tenants in commons in fee simple to two several farm houses homesteads and buildings those pieces or parcels of land and hereditaments situate and being at ffaldingworth in the said County of Lincoln containing respectively two hundred and twenty acres and two hundred and twenty seven acres or thereabouts and now in the several occupations of Thomas Chamberlain and John Beaumont and also to a cottage or tenement Blacksmith Shops and Garden thereunto belonging and adjoining situate in ffaldingworth aforesaid now in the occupation of William Barnard and also to a piece or parcel of land there containing about five acres held under lease from the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln Now I am minded and desirous of disposing of my moiety share and interest in all such real estate and hereditaments subject to and charged with the payment of the several legacies hereinafter mentioned I do therefore by this my Will give and devise all that moiety share and interest of and in all and every the messuages or tenements ffarmhouses Cottages gardens buildingd closes pieces or parcels of land hereditaments and real estate situate and being at ffaldingworth aforesaid and……..moiety share and interest of and in the close or parcel of land……. under lease from the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln with their respective rights members and appurtenances unto my dear sister Elizabeth Wells and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease then to the use of my nephew Gervase Wells Cole his heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely according to the….. and nature of the said estates subject nevertheless and charged with the payment of four several legacies or sums of five hundred pounds each hereinafter mentioned I give and bequeath unto my eldest brother John Wells and to each of my three nieces Winifred Ann, Mary Wells and Elizabeth Wells the daughters of my late brother Gervase Wells Cole deceased and to their respective executors administrators and assigns the legacy sum of five hundred pounds Sterling apiece And I direct that each such legacy of five hundred pounds shall become immediately vested and be a charge on my said real estate hereinbefore devised until payment and that the payment of each legacy shall be postponed until the expiration of six Calendar months next after the decease of my said sister Elizabeth Wells and without interest in the mean time I bequeath all my Wearing apparel of every description and all my jewels, trinkets and Ornaments of the person unto my said sister Elizabeth Wells absolutely And I bequeath unto the Minster Church wardale and Overseers of the poor for the time being of the said Parish of ffaldingworth the legacy or sum of ten pounds to be paid and distributed by them at the Christmas next after my decease amongst the Poor in their said Parish as in their discretion shall be deserving objects of my bounty and subject and charged with the payment of that legacy and also as to the payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences I give and bequeath all my ready money and securities for money and all other my goods chattels personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto my brother ffrancis Wells his executors administrators and assigns to and for his and their own use and benefit absolutely And I appoint him my said brother ffrancis Wells sole Executor of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made I declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the eighteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two _ Mary Wells
