The Will of James Watson

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me James Watson of Reighton in the County of York Yeoman Whereby I give and bequeath to my Grandson James Fox the son of my late daughter Hannah Fox the feather bed now in my own use And to my daughter Mary Wilson the remainder of my household furniture And I give [?] and bequeath unto my sons Robert Watson and Francis Watson their heirs executors administrators and assigns All that my dwelling house and tenement with the outhouses and outbuildings thereto belonging And also all that my close of land situate at Reighton [?] in the said county of York and now in the occupation of Thomas Wilson And also all the residue of my personal estate monies and effects Upon trust as soon as conveniently may be after my decease to sell and dispose of the same real and personal estate and effects by public auction or private contracts and for the best prices that can be reasonably obtained for the same and by and out of the proceeds arising therefrom In the first place to pay and discharge all such just debts personal and testamentory expenses and the costs and charges of proving and registering this my Will And in the next place to pay the following legacies which I give and bequeath accordingly (namely) to my said Grandson James Fox the legacy or sum of fifty pounds to my said daughter Mary Wilson the legacy or sum of fifty pounds and to my Granddaughter Hannah Watson the daughter of my said son Robert Watson the legacy or sum of Ten Pounds Which said legacies I direct shall be paid within six calendar months next after my decease But in case any of the said legatees shall not have attained the age of twenty one years then I direct that his her or their legacies shall be paid into the Savings Bank to accumulated interest for the benefit of such legatee or legatees until he she or they shall obtain that age And in [ever] any of the said legatees shall die leaving issue I direct that the child or children of him or her so living shall take their parents share equally amongst them And I give devise and bequeath the remainder of that same trust monies and [?] other my real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever into and equally between my said two sons Robert Watson and Francis Watson their respective heirs excutors administrators and assigns for their own absolute use and benefir as Tenants in Common and not as paid tenants I direct that the receipts of my said trustees or trustee shall be sufficient discharges to all persons to whom the same shall be given and that such persons shall not be liable to see to the applications of th(e monies therein expressed to be received or be answerable for the misapplication or nonappreciation thereof I appoint the said Robert Watson and Francis Watson Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made by Witness whereof I have herewith set my hand this eleventh day of June one thousand eight hundred and sixty two
Signed by the said James Watson (the testator) as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time and who at his request and in [?] and in the prescence of each other have ascribed our Names as Witnesses M Richardson, Solicitor, Bridlington, Wm Elliott Jr, his clerk

Probate granted in York on 29 August 1872 to his sons Robert and Francis....

James Watson died per his MI on 19 July 1872
