The Will of Anthony Watson

 

This is the last will and testament of me Anthony Watson of Whitby in the County of York Priest, In the name of God Amen the 24th day of February 1583 I Anthony Watson of Whitby within the County of York whole of mind and perfect remembrance praised to almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, First I give and bequeth my soul unto God almighty my maker and to jesus Christ my saviour by whom I trust to gain remission of all my sins and to enter the kingdomm of heaven.  And my body to be buried within the church of Whitby or to where it shall please God.

 

Then I do five and bequeath to Isabel Wilkinson and to Elizabeth Wilkinson her sister......... betwixt them.  And I will that the said Elizabeth and isobell Wilkinson shall have and occupy the Whitesmith's house in Flamegate during their lives natural and to the longer lived of them paying there....and....untro Leonard Saeyre and John Saeyre after the death of the said Elizabeth and Isobell the said house with all hereditaments thereto belonging I give to the said leonard Saeyre and John Saeyre and to his heirs and assigns forever.

 

And I do give grant and bequesth to leonard Saeyre son of the said John saeyre all that my qualtity and fourth part of ground wthin the Breding within the parish of Whitby and also one house with appurtenances in Flamegate aforesaid and also one farmhouse and a toft and a croft there belonging situate in Bagdale. To have and to hold the said quantity and fourth part of the said breding both in the overbreding and the nether breding together with the said two houses in Flamegate and the farmhouse in Bagdale and all and singular the hereditaments and appurtenances there and part and parcel thereto belonging and appertaining unto the said leonard Saeyre and his heirs and assigns for ever.  proved always that Agnes Saeyre the wife to John Saeyre shall have and occupy the said qualtity of the said bredings during her natural life without paying....therefire.  The rest of my goods after my decease my debts paid my will provced and funeral expenses discharged I give and bequeath unto the said leonard Saeyre Isabell Saeyre Agnes Saeyre and to .... saeyre... unto the said John Saeyre and Agnes saeyre his wife whom I make full executors of this my will and testament.
