The Will of George Cheseldon Ward

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me George Cheseldon Ward of the Town and County of Nottingham Gentleman who am now of sound mind memory and Understanding (praised be God for the same) All my Messuages Cottages Closes Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever

I give and devise unto my Sister Mary Ward and her Assigns for and during the term of her natural life without Impeachment of or for any manner of waste and from and after her decease I give and devise the same and every part thereof (subject to and charged and chargeable with the payment of the several Legacies hereinafter mentioned at the time hereinafter first appointed) to my Brother William Ward his Heirs and Assigns for ever I give and I bequeath the sum of Twenty Pounds to Elizabeth the Daughter of Mr Richard Stephens of Leicester to be paid to her out of my said Real Estate within six Calendar Months next after the decease of my said Sister Also I give and bequeath unto John Stephens of Leicester aforesaid Woolcomber and to his Brother the said Richard Stephens and to the Survivor of them and to the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor the Sum of Thirty Pounds to be paid out of my said Real Estate within six Calendar Months next after the decease of my said Sister In Trust that they or the Survivor of them and to the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor shall and do put the same out at Interest upon such security as they or he shall think proper and pay such Interest into the proper hands of my late Servant Elizabeth now the Wife of John Morton for her separate use and benefit for and during the joint lives of the said John Morton and her the said Elizabeth and in case the said John Morton shall die in the lifetime of his said Wife Then upon Trust that they the said John Stephens and Richard Stephens or the Survivor of them or the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor the Survivor of them and to the Executors and Administrators of such Survivor shall and do as soon as conveniently may be after the decease of the said John Morton Pay the said Sum of Thirty Pounds to the said Elizabeth her Executors and Administrators But in case the said Elizabeth shall die in the lifetime of her said Husband Then upon Trust that they the said John Stephens and Richard Stephens or the Survivor of them his Executors and Admors shall as conveniently may be after the decease of the said Elizabeth pay the said Sum of Thirty Pounds to such person and persons and in such shares and proportions as she the said Elizabeth shall notwithstanding her coverture by any Deed or Writing or by her last Will and Testament in Writing or any Writing in the nature thereof direct or appoint And I declare that the Receipts of her the said Elizabeth Morton to the said John the said John Stephens and Richard Stephens or the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators for any Interest Money for the said Thirty Pounds shall be good and sufficient discharge for the same notwithstanding her coverture And I hereby charge and make chargeable my said Real Estate with the payment of the two Legacies of Twenty Pounds and Thirty Pounds at the times aforesaid All my Goods Chattels Plate Linen China Money Securities for Money and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my said Sister whom I hereby make constitute & appoint sole Executrix of this my Will And I request my friends the said John and Richard Stephens to give my said Sister their advice and assistance in the Management and Execution hereof In Witness whereof I the said John Cheseldon Ward the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the thirteenth day of September in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and eighty seven G.C. Ward

On the eleventh day of July in the Year of Our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and ninety one Administration (with the Will annexed) of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of George Cheseldon Ward late of the Town and County of Nottingham deceased was granted to William Ward the Administrator (with the Will annexed) of the Goods of Mary Ward Spinster deceased whilst living the Sister of the said Deceased sole Executrix and Residuary Legatee named in the said Will having been first sworn duly to administer. The said Mary Ward dying without taking upon her the Execution of the said Will


Further Grand dated 18 November 1812 to Richard Stephens Taylor on behalf of Henry Harrison of Leicester of goods left unadministered by William Ward deceased when living the Brother and Administrator of the Goods of Mary Ward Spinster
