The Will of Mary Walker

 

I Mary Walker of Chipping Norton of the County of Oxford Widow do make this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say ffirst I give unto George ffowler Tilsley of Chipping Norton aforesaid Gentleman and my nephew Thomas Taylor of Chipping Camden in the County of Gloucester Draper their executors and administrators the sum of two hundred pounds sterling upon trust to invest the same in or upon Government real or other security or securities at discretion with power to alter the securities as they shall think fit and to pay the interest and produce thereof to my Sister Hannah Stockley the wife of James Stockley for her sole and separate use during her natural life and I do declare and direct that her present or any future husband shall not intermeddle with the said interest neither shall the same be subject or liable to the power control or debts of her present or any future husband and that her receipts alone under her hand for such interest shall notwithstanding her coverture be effective discharge for the same and after the decease of my said Sister Upon trust to pay and divide the said principal sum of two hundred pounds or the stocks funds or securities in or upon which the same shall have been invested unto and equally among the children of my said Sister who shall be living at the time of her decease I give to each of the children of my late Brother Walter Taylor the sum of nineteen pounds nineteen shillings I give to the said George ffowler Tilsley and Thomas Taylor the sum of one hundred pounds sterling free from legacy duty In trust to pay the same in liquidation of any debt or debts due and owing from the trustees of the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel at Chipping Norton aforesaid or some of them as such trustees and for no other purpose whatsoever I give to the Treasurer of the Wesleyan Methodist fforeign Missionary Society and the treasurer of of the British and fforeign Bible Society the sum of five pounds such to be applied to the uses and purposes of such Societies respectively I give to the said George ffowler Tilsley and Thomas Taylor their executors and administrators the sum of forty pounds sterling upon trust to apply the interest or any part thereof in the gilding painting and repairing the Grave stones erected to the memory of my late dear husband and children and those that may be erected to the memory of myself and....any other stones in lieu of the aforesaid stones from time to time as often as occasion shall require I give to the said George ffowler Tilsley my best bedstead and furniture and best bed and quilt and bolster and pillows used therewith or belonging thereto also my tea urn and china for his own use and benefit I direct my trustees to erect a pair of Grave stones similar to those of my late husband to to the memory of myself and to defray the expence thereof out of the residue of my personal estate I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my monies goods and chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever that I may be possessed of or in any way entitled to at the time of my decease subject to the payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expences unto the said George ffowler Tilsley and my said nephew Thomas Taylor to be equally divided between them each of them paying the sum the sum of one shilling and sixpence to my Servant Mary Hobday weekly and every week during her natural life and the first weekly payment to be made at the end of one week next after my decease Provided always and my will is and I do declare that the principal sum of three hundred pounds and interest due and owing to me or the trustee and Executor of the will of my late husband on Note or otherwise from my said nephew Thomas Taylor shall be considered as and form part of the residue of my personal estate and shall be considered as and form part of the legacy or a bequest to or in favor of my said nephew and be accounted for accordingly and law custom or usage to the contrary notwithstanding And lastly I do hereby appoint the said George ffowler Tilsley and Thomas Taylor Executors of this my last will and testament and I do delare and direct that they shall not be answerable or accountable one for the other of them or for any involuntary loss or for the signing receipts for the sake of conformity and that it shall be lawful for them to reimburse themselves and each other all costs charges damages and expences out of the aforesaid trust monies effects and premises this my last will and testament In witness whereof I the said Mary Walker have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirty first day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine_Mary Walker
