The Will of John Urmson
In the Name of God amen I John Urmson or Moreton in
the County of Chester Yeoman being weak of Body but of perfect Mind and
Memory praised be God for the same do make this my last Will & Testament in
Manner following (that is to say) First and principally I commit and commend
my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it And my Body I commit to
the Earth to be decently buried at the Discretion of my Executors
hereinafter named And as concerning my worldly & temporal Estate I give &
dispose of the same as follows And first it is my Will and mind that my
Debts funeral Expences and Legacies be paid and discharged out of my real
Estates in Moreton and Newton. Then I give unto my Son Gilbert Urmson and
the Heirs male of his Body lawfully begotten all my Messuage Lands
Hereditaments and Premises in Moreton aforesaid and for default of such
Issue to go and descend to my Son Marcer Urmson and to the Heirs Male of his
Body lawfully begotten & for Default of such Issue Male of him the said
Marcer Urmson then to go and descend to my other Son Newport Urmson and to
the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully to be begotten and for default of such
Issue to go and descend to next Male Heir and so on I likewise give and
devise after my Wife Katherine Urmson’s Decease All that our Messuage Lands
Hereditaments and Premises with their Appurtenances lyeing in Newton
aforesaid to my son Newport Urmson and to the Heirs Male of his Body
lawfully to be begotten and for default of such Issue to go and descend to
next Heir Male and so on for ever I give unto my four Daughters Elisabeth
Judith Jane and Sharlot Urmson and the Heirs of their Bodies lawfully
begotten the Sum of One Hundred Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain and
for default of such Issue at the death of any of them the said Sum to go and
descend to the Survivors of them equally to be divided amongst them I give
unto my Son Marcer Urmson the like Sum of One Hundred Pounds of lawful Money
of great Britain all which said Sums of Money must be raised and made out of
my said Lands in Moreton and Newton and paid by my Sons Gilbert and Newport
Urmson their Heirs Executors or Administrators and at such times as it can
or may be conveniently raised and paid in the Space of Ten Years after my
decease I give unto my Son John Urmson the sum of fifty Pounds of like
lawful Money of great britain to be raised made and paid for as aforesaid I
likewise Will & desire that my Brother Gilbert Urmson may have a sufficient
Maintenance of Meat Drink and Cloathing During his life from my two Sons
Gilbert and Newport Urmson And further my Will and mind is that in case my
two Sons Gilbert and Newport Urmson their Heirs Executors & admrs do not pay
the Sum of One Hundred Pounds every two Year that it shall and may be law
for that party to whom the money becomes due to recover the Sum of forty
shillings towards the Interest thereof And Lastly I do hereby nominate
constitute and Appoint my two Sons Gilbert and Newport Urmson Exrs of this
my last Will & Testament and do hereby revoke and make void all other Wills
by me heretofore made and do declare this to be my last Will & Testament In
Witness whereof I the said John Urmson have hereunto set my hand and Seal
this twenty eighth Day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven
