The Will of William Turton

 

In the name of God Amen I William Turton Licenced retail Beer seller of Westbromwich in the county of Stafford being weak of body but of sound mind memory and understanding do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in the manner & form following First I appoint that all my just debts funeral & testamentary expences be paid from the personal property that I may be possessed of. To my dear Wife Mary Turton I leave for her sole use my stock in Trade & Household Furniture that I may be possessed of To my dear Wife I also leave the whole of my other property of every kind and description whatsoever and wheresoever it may be for her undisturbed use & enjoyment during the term of her Natural Life if she continue to remain my Widow but if she cease to be my Widow and marry another man or in any way or in any way or in any Ground whatsoever cohabit with another man then from either of the above things being proved she shall cease to have any right whatsoever in my property. At the death of my dear wife or if she shall act contrary to this my will then I do herein appoint that my Executors hereinafter named shall take possession of my freehold property & shall dispose of it by public Auction parcelled out in the best ways possible prior to the sale; and after all expences have been paid the remaining money shall be divided in equal shares share & share alike among all my Children; both by my first and second Wife-That the money shall be put into a Bank in Birmingham the day after it is paid by the Purchasers unless it be divided on that day there to remain until the parties are met together to receive it. The portion belonging to my three children which I have had by my present wife shall be paid into her hands for the purpose of assisting to bring them up. I do hereby appoint my son in Law Richard Hales & Mr Charles Stokes Executors of this my last will with an absolute power to convey any or the whole of my property to any who may purchase it. To this my last will I have put my hand & seal this tenth day of May 1833
