The Will of Michael Turton

 

In the Name of God Amen I Michael Turton of Birmingham in the County of Warwick Apothecary (for the settling and disposing of the Estate which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Eldest Son John Turton the Sume of Ten Pounds to buy him Mourning with Item I give to my Daughter Dorothy Turton the sume of ffour hundred pounds to be paid to her by my Executor hereafter named within twelve months next after my decease with lawfull Interest or the same to be….from the date of my death Item the better to enable my Executor to pay the said legacyes I give and devise unto my youngest Son William Turton and to his heirs and Assignes for ever All that my Messuage dwelling or Tenement where I now live with all the buildings yard garden and Appurtenances to the same belonging and which I lately purchased of and from the heires of Alexander Hussey deced and with the said Messuage or Tenement situate standing and being in or near a Street in Birmingham aforesaid called the High town he paying to my Daughter Dorothy Turton the said four hundred pounds and Interest as above mentioned Item I give and bequeath unto my son William Turton (the better also to Enable him to pay my debts legacyes and funeral charges) All the rest and residue of my goods Chattells plate Money Book debts and other my personall Estate whatsoever or wheresoever or of what nature or kind soever And I doe hereby nominate and appoint my said Son William Executor of this my Will and I declare my particular friends Griffith Davies Doctor of phisick and Mr Charles Blackham to be Overseers of this my Will and to advise and direct my said Executor in the Execution of his Executorship And in Case any varience or dispute shall arise or happen between any of my said Legatees touching any matter or thing in this my will contained Then and in such Case my will and desire further is and I doe hereby order and direct that the same dispute shall be left to my said Two Overseers and that what my said Overseers (upon hearing such dispute) shall determine in the same shall be binding to the parties at Varience shall stand to abide by and performe the determination of the said Overseers And I doe hereby revoke all former Wills by me made and publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have signed sealed published and declared the presents to be my last Will and Testament the Sixteenth day of Aprill in the Yeare of our Lord God One thousand seaven hundred and twenty Two Mich: Turton
