The Will of Mary Turton

 

In the Name of God amen The Thirteenth day of ffebruary in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and forty four I Mary Turton of Birmingham in the County of Warwick spinster being in health of body and of sound and disposeing mind and memory (praised be God for the same) But considering the frailty & uncertainty of this mortall life Doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner following Vizt First and Principally I Commend my soul to god who gave it and my body I committ to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Exts hereinafter named And as to that worldly Estate wherewith it hath please God to bless me I give and devise as followeth Imprimis I give and devise All that my messuage or tenement barnes stables buildings lands closes meadowes pastures and Appurtces thereunto belonging situate lying and being situate lyeing and being in Oldbury now in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Armfield Unto my Cozen Thomas Lakin of Birmingham aforesaid and Thomas Watson of Birmingham aforesaid Candlestickmaker and their heires for ever In Trust That they shall assoon as conveniently they can after my decease sell all the same pmisses with the Apptences for the most money that can be gotten for the same and the money to be raised by such sale (after my debts legacyes and funerall charges shall be paid and discharged) be equally divided Unto and amongst my Cozens Nathaniel Moor Joseph Moor and Sarah Moor and my Cozen Thomas Armfield of Birmingham aforesaid Joyner and all and every his child or children share and share alike Also I give unto the said Sarah Moor All my cloathes four pair of sheets four tablecloathes One dozen of Napkins and One dozen of Towells Also I give and bequeath Unto my Cozen Samuel Turton Tenn pounds And to my Cozen John Ball son of my Cozen elizabeth Ball widow decd Tenn pounds if he shall be living or shall be heard of within the space of Twelve months next after my decease But if he shall not be heard of by my Exrs within that time Then I give the said Tenn pounds to my Cozen Charles ffreeth Glover If he shall be then living But if dead Then I give the said Tenn pounds unto his three children Charles ffreeth John ffreeth and Joseph ffreeth to be equally divided between them share and share alike Also I give unto Elizabeth the widow of Nathaniel Blakemore One Guinea Also I doe hereby nominate and appoint the said Thomas Lakin and Thomas Watson Joynt Exrs of this my last Will and testament and doe give unto them five pounds appiece Also All the rest of my money rings shop goods household goods and all other my personall Estate whatsoever (My debts legacyes funerall charges and all labour costs charges and expences in and about proveing and Executing of this my will being thereout first paid and discharged) I give and bequeath unto my said Cozens Nathaniel Moor Joseph Moor and Sarah Moor and my Cozen Thomas Armfield and unto all and every his child or children equally to be divided amongst them share and share alike And I doe revoke all other and former Wills by me made and doe declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seal the day and year first above written
