The Will of Thomas Trulove

 

In the Name of God Amen This is my last Will and Testament of me Thomas Trulove of Stoney Stratford in the County of Buckingham Grocer as followeth (that is to say) ffirst I give devise and bequeath all that my Messuage or Tenement situate standing and being in Castle Thorpe in the said County of Buckingham wherein my Son Thomas Truelove lately dwelt together with all Comons and Appurtenances thereunto belonging And also all those eight Acres of Arable Land Ley and Meadow Ground lying and being dispersed in the Common and open ffields parish and precinct of Castle Thorpe aforesaid and Hanslopp in the said County of Buckingham All which said eight Acres of Land I bought and purchased to me and my heirs of and from Roger Panat unto my Son John Trulove and his heirs for Ever chargeable nevertheless and to start charged with the Payment of the Sum of ten pounds apiece unto my Grand-daughters Catherine Trulove and Martha Trulove Daughters of my Son Thomas Trulove at their several and respective Ages of Twenty one Years or Days of Marriage which shall first happen and my will and meaning is that in case either of my said Grand-daughters shall happen to Dye before the said Legacy shall become due and payable that then the same shall be paid unto their Brother Thomas Trulove at his Age of Twenty one Years Item I give and devise All those my two Tenements with the Appurtenances situate standing and being in Castle Thorpe aforesaid and now in the several occupations of Mary Steward and Mary Harris unto my Grandson Thomas Trulove and his heirs for ever and my Will and meaning is and I do hereby direct and appoint that my Executor hereinafter named shall receive the Rents and profits of the said Tenements until my said Grandson shall attain to the Age of Twenty one Years and employ the same for and towards his Maintenance in such manner as he shall think proper Item I give and devise all those my two Messuages or Tenements with their and every of their Appurtenances situate standing and being in Castle Thorpe aforesaid and now in the several occupations of Richard Elmes and Thomas Ratlee and all those seven Acres of Arable Land and Ley Ground lying and being dispersed in the Common and open fields of Castle Thorpe aforesaid which I bought and purchased of Thomas Nichols with their Appurtenances unto John Johnson of Castle Thorpe aforesaid Malster and his heirs for ever In Trust nevertheless to sell and dispose thereof for the best price he can get for the same for the Payment of such Debts as I shall owe at the time of my decease by Mortgage or otherwise And my Will and meaning is that in case their shall be any Overplus after the Payment of my Debts that the same shall be equally divided between my Daughters Elizabeth Churchill and Anne Dawson share and share alike And my Will and meaning further is and I doe hereby direct that the said John Johnson shall pay  my said Daughter Dawsons share of the Overplus arising by the sale of the aforesaid Premises to her at such time or times as he shall think proper separate from the controul of her said husband and that her Receipt only shall be a discharge for the same Item I give unto my loving Wife the Sum of ffive pounds to be paid by my Executor hereinafter named within Six Months after my decease Item all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattells and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (my ffuneral Expences and the Charges and Expences of my Executor in and about the Execution of this my Will being first paid and discharged) I give unto the Children of my Son and Daughters John Trulove Elizabeth Churchill and Anne Dawson to equally divided between them Share and Share alike and I do hereby direct that the said Anne Dawsons Receipt only shall be a Discharge for her Childrens Share And my Will and meaning is and I do hereby further direct and appoint that in case any dispute or difference shall happen to arise in relation to an Agreement made with my Wife after my Marriage that my Executor hereinafter named shall ratify and confirm the Same and that the several Goods Chattels and Effects mentioned in the said Agreement shall not be deemed or taken to be any part of my Personal Estate And lastly I do hereby make and Ordain the said John Johnson sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament  and I hereby revoke and make void all former Wills by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament  being contained in two Sheets of Paper set my hand and seal (to wit) my hand to the first sheet thereof and my hand and seal the last sheet the twenty third Day of July in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty two     Tho Trulove
