John Treadsekant or
Tredeskant Gardener
In the Name of God Amen I JOHN
TREADESKANT of South Lambeth in the County of Surrey Gardyner being
sicke in body but perfect in mynde thanks be to God therefore doe
this 8th day of January Anno Dom 1637 make and ordaine my
last will and Testament in maner following viz Renounceing hereby
all former wills First I doe surrender my Soule to the Almightie and
my body to the earth to be buryed in the parish where it shall
please God to call mee out of this world.
Item I give to my onely sonne
JOHN TREADESKANT my Lease in South Lambeth aforesaid and my Lease in
Woodham Water in the County of Essex.
Item I give to my
grandchildren JOHN & FRANCES TREADESKANT my Lease of two houses
whereof one is in Long Acres the other in the Covent Garden in the
County of Middlesex the proffitte of that Lease to be equallie
devided between them after Ladie day now next comeing.
Item I give to my said
grandchildren the sum of £150 which is in the hands of the Right
Honourable the Lord Goringe And the sum of £17 which is in the hande
of my brother in lawe ALEXANDER NORMAN the same severall somes of
money to be equally devided betwixt my said grandchldren And if
either of my said grandchildren happen to dye before their age of
one and twentie yeares or daie of marriage then my will is that the
Survivor of them shall have and enjoy that parte of my said estate
which I have hereby given to the other.
Item I give and bequeath all
the rest and residue of my goods and chattells whatsoever not hereby
before bequeathed to my said sonne with this provision That if hee
shall desire to parte with or sell my Cabinett that hee shall first
offer the same to the Prince And I doe hereby make and appoint my
said brother in law Mr WILLIAM WARD Executor of this my last will
and Testament And I doe hereby desire my trustie and beloved frend
JOHN WHISTLER Esquier to be Overseer of this my last will and
Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale
this daie and yeare above written. John Treadeskant.
