The Will of George Travis


9 June 1748 I GEORGE TRAVISE of Whittaker Parish of Rochdale, Yeoman, make this my last will I give to my daughter Martha Scholfield now wife of John Scholfield of Grange, Parish of Saddleworth yeoman 6 pounds yearly during her life if she survive her husband unto Joseph Scholfield my Grandson and second son of my daughter Martha Scholfield All that my Estate being att Wittaker now in the tenour of Samuell Stott when he attains the age of Thirty years. It is my Will that if his elder Brother John Scholfield die before 21 and have no Issue then I give that my Estate att Whittaker to Benjamin Scholfield my grandson when 30. And if my Grandson Benjamin die before 21 and without issue Then I give that my Estate at Whittaker to my Grandson James Scholfield when 30. And further and I do charge my Gransons Joseph Benjamin and James Scholfield that so come to the said Estate at Whittaker to pay 140 pounds to bee divided amongst my Grandsons and daughters born of my daughter Martha I give unto my Son-in-Law John Scholfield of Grange aforesaid their father 5 pounds a year if he survive his wife Martha after the first attains to 30 years for life.
