I William Townsend of
Aston in the parish of Bampton in the County of Oxford Yeoman
and now dwelling with my nephew Gabriel Townsend a baker there
do by this my Will give and devise limit and appoint to my
brother Richard Townsend of Bampton and his heirs subject as
after mentioned my quarter of a yard lands meadows and
appurtenances in Aston and Coat lately mortgaged by me and the
said Richard Townsend or by me at his request and for his use to
James Johnson of Bampton and with which mortgage I hereby charge
and subject the said lands in the hands of my said brother
Richard who is fully to indemnify me and my estate therefrom and
I give and devise to the said Richard Townsend and his heirs my
four acres and a half of other lands in Aston and Coat and also
my half yard lands meadows and commons with the appurtenances in
Aston and Coat which I purchased of my brother Thomas Townsend
and his son Richard Townsend and all my estate and interest
therein subject nevertheless and I hereby subject the same to
the payment of the said mortgage so as to indemnify the other
part of my estate therefrom and I give devise and limit to my
said brother Richard Townsend and his heirs upon the trusts
hereinafter mentioned my half yard lands meadows and commons
with the appurtenances in Aston and Coat called late Stones half
yard and purchased by me some years since of my said brother
Richard and also my quarter of a yard lands meadows and commons
there called .arts and all my estate and interest in the several
last mentioned Estates to hold to him my said brother Richard
and his heirs upon special trust and in confidence that he and
they do and shall let and set the said lands and by and out of
the clear yearly rents and profits thereof do and shall weekly
on Monday in each and every week well and truly pay or cause to
be paid to or unto the proper hands of my said brother Thomas
Townsend at the Cross in the Street of Aston aforesaid granted
to be the middle or centre of the village the sum of eight
shillings sterling English money without deduction or do and
shall dispend the same to and for the use and benefit of the
said Thomas Townsend weekly and every week in the best manner
for his maintenance and support, it being my desire and
intention that my said brother Thomas shall have no vested
estate or right in the said premises or in the said weekly
payment so as to assign change release or convert the same
weekly payments or the benefit thereof from and through the
hands of my said trustee Richard Townsend and his heirs during
the continuance of his and their estate and interest in the said
trust premises and no longer and after or upon payment of the
said weekly sum of eight shillings or its application in manner
aforesaid upon trust as to the then residue of the said rents
and profits for and for the benefit of my said trustee Richard
Townsend and his heirs and to be fully at his and their disposal
and I nominate and appoint my said brother Richard Townsend to
be sole executor of this my Will and make him my residuary
legatee In witness whereof I have to this my Will contained in
two sheets of paper to each sheet set my hand and seal this
sixth day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty

and declared by the testator William Townsend as and for his
last Will and testament in the presence of us who in his and
each others presence have subscribed our names as witnesses

Proved at London 19th
Nov 1825 before the Judge by the oath of Richard Townsend the
brother & sole exec to whom Admon was granted being first sworn
by Comon duly to admin.
