In the Name of God Amen I PHILIP TAYLOR of
Swineside being sick in body but in sound and perfect memory praise
be Almighty God do make and ordaine this my last will and
testament.... I give unto my four sons JAMES, JOHN, PHILIP and HUE
£10 each when the youngest attains 21 years and each of them £10 at
the death of my wyfe and if any of them die before these times their
part shall go to the rest of my sons. DOROTHY my wife and my son
FRANCIS to be executors, giving them all my chattells and household
goods and if my wife marry another man my son FRANCIS shall turn her
to her third of my land and I do make my son and wife FRANCIS and
DOROTHY my executors of all my lands and cattell they paying all my
debts and funerall expences and I do appoint RICHARD TAYLOR of
Widdiman's House and PETER YEOMAN of Horsehouse trustees to see that
this my will be done whereby I have set my hand and seal this 11
November 1729
witnesses Peter Yeoman, Richard Taylor,
Christopher Lobley
and my mind is that my executors bring my four
youngest sons up and maintain them well with meat drink and cloathes
till they attain 21 years.

The condition of this obligation is that the
above bounden Dorothy Taylor do well and truly bring up in the fear
of God and in the doctrine and discipline of the Church of England
FRANCIS, 17 years, JAMES 15 years, JOHN 12 years , PHILIP 10 years
and HUGH 7 years, the natural and lawful children of Philip Taylor
late of the parish of Coverham deceased and all the goods and
chattells etc shall be due unto them by any lawful means and
conditions and imploy the best comodity and profit of the said
children ...... and keep the said children with sufficient meat
drink cloathing washing lodging etc and pay to the said children
when they shall come to full age of fortune to marry the money due
to them.
