In the Name of od Amen I JAMES TAYLOR of
Carperby in the parish of Aysgarth and County of York yeoman being
in perfect mind and memory make and constitute and ordain this my
Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First I give
to me eldest son JOHN all my houses lands and tenements and
hereditaments ... whatsoever with all appurtenances ... To have and
to hold ... subject nevertheless to the payment of the legacys
hereafter bequeathed .... I do also give and bequeath unto my two
younger sons JAMES and LEONARD to each of them £120 to be paid when
they shall attain 21 years. I also give and bequeath unto my four
daughters MARY, MARGARET , ANNE and DOROTHY to each of them £60 to
be paid when they severally attain 21 years all the legacys to be
paid by my eldest son JOHN out of the lands and premises to him
bequeathed but if it shall happen that either of my younger sons or
any of my daughters die before they attain 21 years it is my will
that the legacy of such son shall be paid to his surviving brother
and the legacy of such daughter shall be paid to her surviving
sister or sisters ... And whereby the Last Will and Testament of
MYLES DIXON late of Bainbridge [I] and PARCIVAL BELL of West Witton
were appointed trustees to sell and dispose of his the said MYLES
DIXON's Estate at Thornton Rust a part of which has been by use sold
but the conveyances not yet executed I therefore give and assign
unto the said PARCIVAL BELL all the power right and authority
invested in mee by the said will to grant execute and convey the
said estate according to the Bargain and sale by us jointly made and
lastly all my Personal estate whatsoever I give and bequeath to my
beloved wife and my eldest son to pay thereout all my just debts and
funeral expences hereby making them full executors of this my last
Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seal this 17 January 1747
