The Will of John Tarrant

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Tarrant of Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck in the County of Dorset Victualler Imprs my Will and desire is that all my Debts and ffuneral Charges be first paid and discharged and I hereby devise unto my good friend Robert Beere of Corfe Castle Wool Comber All my Interest in the George Inn at Lamberne in the County of Berks which I hold by Lease from the Right Honourable the Lord Craveb to and for the trusts hereinafter mentioned that is to say that out of the rents issues and profits thereof he pay unto my Dear Wife Barbara Tarrant the Sum of Seven Pounds a Year by four quarterly payments Vizt at Michelmas Christmas Lady Day and the ffeast of St John the Baptist the first Payment to be made at the first of the said feasts which shall happen next after my decease during the Joynt Lives of the said Barbara Tarrant and my Son William Tarrant And that the said Robert Beere out of the rents Issues and Profitts of the said estate Pay Annually twenty Shillings to each of my Daughters Elizabeth and Jane Tarrant to Commence immediately after my decease for the term of twenty years in case the said Leasehold Estate is not before determined But in case either of my said Daughters shall happen to dye within the Space of twenty years the Annual Payment of twenty Shillings to such Daughter shall cease the remainder of the Rents Issues and Proffitts of the said Estate to be payd unto my son William Tarrant during the remainder of the said term the said Robert Beere first deducting such reasonable Charges he shall be at by Virtue of this Devise I Devise the rest of my Estate to my Wife and Son whom I make Executors of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal the 27th day of June 1738 My Will is that Seven Pounds given to my Wife and the twenty Shillings given to my Daughters to be payd Annually be free from all taxes whatsoever John Tarrant
