The Will of John Tapley

 

I John Tapley of the parish of St Olave Southwark in the County of Surrey Shipwright being of sound and perfect mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of Mans life and being intended to make a voyage on the seas Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made and appointing these presents to stand and remain my last Will and Testament) in manner and forme following Imprimis I comend my soule to the hands of Almighty God my Creator (hoping by the merits of my alone Saviour Jesus Christ to attain everlasting life) And my body to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And as to any worldly goods (which God hath bestowed on me) I give bequeath and devise the same in manner following viz I give and bequeath unto my loving Wife Rebecca the Sum of one shilling and all the rest and residue of my Estate whatsoever whether real or personall I give devise and bequeath the same unto my loving Mother Elizabeth Tapley her Heirs Executors Administrators & Assigns for ever And I do hereby constitute and ordain my said loving Mother Executrix solely of this my last Will and Testament And if she happen to dye without making her Will in Writing I do constitute and appoint the persons who shall obtain Letters of Administration of her Estate to stand in her stead and to be Executors of this my last Will for so much as shall not be by her administered In witness whereof I have hereunto set my and seal this nineth Day of September Anno Dom One Thousand six hundred and ninety eight And in the Tenth year of the reign of King
