The Will of Joseph Symonds
|
This is the
last Will and Testament of me Joseph
Symonds of Egglestone within the
Parish of Tineham in the Isle of
Purbeck and County of Dorset
Gentleman made and published the
Seventeenth day of March in the Year
of our Lord One Thousand Seven
Hundred and Seventy Four First I
give and devise unto my Son Joseph
Symonds the Younger and his Heirs
from and after the decease of my
dear and loving Wife Jane who is
intitled to the same for her Life by
Virtue of our Marriage Settlement
All that my Moiety or half part of
All that Farm with its Appurtenances
now in my own Occupation commonly
called or known by the Name of
Eggelstone Farm situate and being in
the Parish of Tineham aforesaid
(Subject nevertheless to the Payment
of the Annuity hereinafter
mentioned) And also Subject to and
chargeable with the Payment of a
principal Sum of One Hundred Pounds
and Interest from the Day of my
Decease due on a Bond given by me to
my Mother in Law Mary Clapcott Widow
deceased) To hold unto my said Son
Joseph Symonds the Younger from and
after the Decease of my said Wife
(Subject and chargeable as
aforesaid) his Heirs and Assigns for
ever Also I give devise and bequeath
unto my Son Samuel Symonds and
George Filliter of Wareham in the
said County of Dorset Gentleman and
to the Survivor of them his
Executors or Administrators yearly
and every Year and out of my said
Moiety of the said Farm called
Egglestone Farm by the Person or
Persons who shall for the Time being
be intitled to the Possession
thereof by Virtue of this my Will by
equal half yearly Payments from the
day of the Decease of my said Wife
for and during the natural Life of
my Daughter Molly the Wife of Robert
Fookes of Church Knowle in the Isle
and County aforesaid Yeoman for
their own Use and Benefit But In
Trust to pay the same unto my said
Daughter Molly Fookes for her sole
and separate Use and Benefit apart
from her said Husband and not to be
received or intermeddled with by
him. And her Receipt and Receipts
shall be to the said Samuel Symonds
and George Filliter or the Survivor
of them his Executors or
Administrators (notwithstanding her
Coverture) good and sufficient
Discharges and Discharge for the
same Also I give and bequeath to my
Grandchildren William and Molly Son
and Daughter of my said Son Joseph
Symonds the Younger the Sum of Ten
Pounds apiece Also I give and
bequeath unto my Grandchildren Jane
and Elizabeth Daughters of my said
Daughter Molly Fookes the Sum of Ten
Pounds apiece Also I give and
bequeath unto my said Wife one
Moiety or half Part of all my
Household Goods and Furniture Also I
give and bequeath unto my said Son
Samuel Symonds the other Moiety or
half Part of my said Household
Goods and Furniture and also my
Stock of Cattles Corn Hay Husbandry
Utensils and Implements whatsoever
And also the Sum of One Hundred
Pounds in Money And all the Rest and
Residue of my Goods Chattles Credits
Moneys Securities for Money real and
personal estates (not hereinbefore
given and bequeathed) I give devise
and bequeath unto my said Son Samuel
his Heirs Executors and
Administrators forever And do make
and appoint him my said Son Samuel
soel Executor of this my last Will
and Testament In Testimony whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and Seal
and declared this to be and contain
my whole last Will and Testament the
Day and Year above written Joseph
