Notes:

1.   Testator is documented in the 1677 Heralds’ Visitation of Dorset;

2.   Testaor’s son and executor, also Richard, married and had children;

3.   Thomas Swayne was perhaps testator’s younger half brother;

4.   The Heralds’ Visitation says this will was proved in the Archdeaconry of Dorset in 1665.

In the name odf God, Amen. I Richard Swayne of Tarrant Gunville in the county of Dorset, gent, being sick of the body yet of ?perfect mind and memory for which I give God praise, do make this my last will and testament the one and twenty day of December 1665 in manner and form following

First I give and bequeath my soul to God ??? ??? to grant a joyful resurrection, and my body to be buried in the church of Tarrant ??? ??? ??? executor hereinafter named

First, I give and bequeath to my daughters Katherine ?Bower and Elizabeth Young ??? ??? ??? that I gave ??? ??? ??? them

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son John Swayne the ??? and the cubbard over the hall chamber and the bed and bed ??? and ??? cubbard in the middle chamber

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Wiliam Swayne the bed and bed ??? in the hall together with my four pairs of ??? sheets in the box andfive pounds in money

Item, I give to the poor of the parish the sum of ?five pounds to be paid them within one year after my decease and to be ??? ???

Item, I give and bequeath unto my servant Ann Jay alias Harding five pounds a year during her life to be paid unto her quarterly, the first quarter to be ??? ??? after my decease

Item, all the rest of my goods and chattels not yet disposed of I give and bequeath to my son Richard Swayne whom I make executor of this my last will and testament
