The Will of Reuben Sturgeon

I Reuben Sturgeon of Bury St Edmunds in
the County of Suffolk Surgeon and Apothecary do make publish and
declare this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all former
wills and do constitute and appoint my beloved wife Sarah
Surgeon formerly Sarah Perkins whole and sole Executrix and do
give to her all my estates and Effects Monies Bonds and
Securities of every sort and kind Plate Linen ffurniture Bills
Book Debts Stock in Trade and every thing upon the face of this
Earth for her own use and benefit during the term of her natural
life without being accountable to any person or persons for the
same if it is in her power to spare each and every one of my
Sisters that may be living at the time of my death the Sum of
ffifty Pounds to be paid each and every one of them in three or
six Months it will give me satisfaction but it is left entirely
to Mrs Sturgeon’s own good sense and good temper and that she
cause some attorney to provide a proper Will or Instrument how
my Estates and Effects are to be applied after her death
according or as near as may be to the following directions To my
Niece Mary Guy the sum of ffifty Pounds To the children of her
Brother Henry Soutard Guy one Boy and two Girls the like Sum of
ffifty Pounds each when they severally arrive at the age of
Twenty four years if either of them die before they arrive at
that age the Sum of One Hundred and ffifty Pounds to be divided
between the Survivor or Survivors To my Nephew Henry Guy the sum
of ffifty Pounds To his two Children the sum of ffifty Pounds
each when they arrive at the age of Twenty four years To my
beloved Sister Rebecca Sturgeon the Estate where she now lives
in the Cook Row of Abbey Gate Street I give and bequeath to her
for ever with full Liberty to dispose of it as she pleases to my
Sister Ann Park I give the Sum of fforty Pounds pr Ann payable
by four equal quarterly payments of ten pounds each my Estates
and ffunded Property to be charged with the Payment thereof To
my Sister Phillis Victor I give the sum of one Thousand Pounds
or ffifty Pounds pr Ann for her own use or for her Husband Mr
John Victor or the longest liver of them To each of their
Children the Sum of One hundred pounds and To each of their
Children the Sum of One hundred Pounds each and to their
youngest Son Henry Hasted Victor an additional Sum of One
hundred Pounds to assist his education as for the rest of my
Property let my beloved Wife bestow it upon the most deserving
of my Sisters and their families Let my ffunerall be as frugall
as is possible And all my .... paid this I publish and declare
as my last Will and Testament wrote with my own hand and signed
Sealed and Witnessed this ninth day of January in the Year of
our Lord Eighteen hundred and nineteen Jany 19 1819 my Ground of
Pease Porridge Green to be sold to pay my Legacies Reuben
