The Will of Julian Sturdy

 

In the Name of God Amen the fourteenth day of October Anno Domini 1727 I Julian Sturdy of Chisswick in the County of Middlesex Widow being of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following Imprimis I give and appoint the sume of ten pounds to defray the Charges of my ffuneral to be performed in a decent and Christian manner Item I give and bequeath to the Children of my late Neice Julian Henchman deceased the sume of sixty pounds to be equally divided amongst them and paid when they come to the age of twenty one years and if either or any of them happen to dye before he or she attain the age of twenty one years his or her part shall go amongst the Survivors Item I give and bequeath unto my Nephew John Poynter the sume of fforty pounds as soon as it can be received Item I give the sume of ten pounds unto Mary the Daughter of Thomas Poynter Item I give unto Isaac Ward the sume of twenty pounds and to his Sister Ann Ward the sume of ten pounds to be paid when they come to the age of twenty one years and if either of them happen to dye before they come to the age of twenty one years his or her part shall go to the Survivor I give unto Elias Brown the sume of three pounds to buy Rings for himself his Wife and his Daughter Item I give unto James Meadows twenty shillings to buy him a Ring Item I give unto jane the Wife of Erlin and to Jane the Wife of Thomas Cowden twenty shillings to each of them to buy each of them a Ring Item I give devise and bequeath unto the Charity Schools of Chiswick in the County of Middlesex the sume of five pounds to be paid unto the Treasurer of the said Schools for the time being for and towards the Education of Poor Children taught therein I give and bequeath unto White Chappel Prison and to the Marshalsea Prison to each four pounds to discharge those who are detained there for their ffees only I give unto ten poor Watermen’s ffamilies forty shillings equally to be distributed and to be paid unto the widow and wife of each ffamily Lastly I give unto my Kinsman Thomas Poynter my share in the good Ship called the Johanna as mentioned in the bill of Sale and twenty Pounds in money also to my kinsman Charles Poynter I give ffifty pounds in money moreover I give unto the said Thomas Poynter and Charles Poynter all my household Goods to be equally Shared between them and I do hereby constitute and appoint the said Thomas Poynter and Charles Poynter to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all Wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written _ Item I give unto Elizabeth henchman my Silver Cup and large Silver Spoon Item I give unto Mary Henchman my Silver Porringer and a large Silver Spoon Julian Sturdy
