The Will of Thomas Stone
This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Stone
of South Town otherwise Little Yarmouth in the County of Suffolk Merchant
ffirst I do give & devise unto Hannah my Wife & her Assigns for & during the
term of her natural life All those my five tenements or dwelling houses &
ffarm with the edifices building yards Grounds lands & Appurts thereunto
belonging situate lying & being in Hatfield in the Co of Essex now in the
occupation of Abraham Crofts & his undertenants & all other my Messuages
lands tenements & heredits whatsoever situate lying & being in Hatfield
aforesaid or in any Town parish or place thereto contiguous or near
adjoining (she & they maintaining & keeping the same Premises in good &
tenantable repair & committing & suffering no waste thereupon) And from &
immediately after the decease of the said Hannah my Wife I do give & devise
my said tenements or dwelling house s ffarm & all other the heredits &
premises hereinbefore devised to my said Wife unto my brother Isaac Stone &
to his heirs & assigns for ever Also I do give and devise unto the said
Hannah my Wife & her Assigns for & during the term of her natural life All
that my leasehold tenement or dwelling house with the edifices buildings
Gardens & Grounds thereunto belonging situate lying & being in South Town
otherwise Little Yarmouth aforesaid now in my own occupation & which I
lately purchased of Matthew Spruce & now hold for the remainder of a term of
eighty years (she maintaining & keeping the same Premises in good &
tenantable repair & committing & suffering no waste thereupon) and from &
immediately after the decease of my said Wife I do give & devise my said
last mentioned Tenement or Dwelling house & premises hereinbefore given to
my said Wife unto Susannah Stone daur of my said brother Isaac Stone & to
her exors admors & assigns for all the then remainder of the term of years
which shall be therein then to come & unexpired Also I do give to John
Basingthwaite my said Wife’s Nephew the Sum of two hundred Pounds to be paid
to him within six months next after my decease Also I do give & bequeath
unto my said Wife for & during the term of her natural life the use of all
household ffurniture plate & linen And I do hereby direct that as soon after
my decease as conveniently can be a full complete & perfect Inventory shall
be taken of my said household ffurniture plate & linen & two fair Copies
made thereof one to be signed by my Exors hereinafter named & kept by my
said Wife & the other to be signed by my said Wife & kept by my said Exors
And I do hereby authorize and empower order & direct my Exors hereinafter
named or the survivor of them his exors or admors to put place & continue
out at Interest on Government real or personal Security (after the payment
of my funeral expences the charges of proving & executing this my Will all
my just debts & the specific legacies by this my Will given ) all the rest &
residue of my Monies & personal Estate whatsoever & to pay the dividends
Interest & annual produce thereof unto my said Wife & her assigns for &
during the term of her natural life and from & immediately after my said
Wife’s decease I do give & bequeath all my said household ffurniture plate &
linen & all the rest & residue of my monies goods chattels & personal estate
whatsoever unto my said brother Isaac Stone and I do nominate constitute &
appoint my friends George Haines Dakin of Great Yarmouth in the County of
Norfolk Brazier & Wm Barber of South Town otherwise Little Yarmouth
aforesaid Gent Exors of this my Will And I do give unto each of them Twenty
Pounds for their care & trouble in the execution thereof lastly I do hereby
revoke all Wills & other testamentary dispositions by me at any time
heretofore made & do declare this only to be my last Will & testament which
is written on three sheets ofpaper annexed together at the top & there
sealed In witness whereof I have to the first two sheets hereof set my hand
