This is the last
Will and Testament of me Thomas
Stone the Elder of ffyfield in the County of Berks Yeoman It is
my will and I hereby direct that my son John Stone who now rents
all my Estates except the house and orchard in my son James's
occupation shall continue in the possession of the same and
every part thereof whether ffreehold leasehold or copyhold by
way of an Executors year until the Michaelmas next after my
decease And that he shall account for the same rent as shall be
received at the time of my decease to go and be divided with the
residue hereinafter mentioned and subject thereto I do hereby
confirm unto my son Thomas the grant of a copyhold messuage and
four acres of Land and to my son John the grant of my two
Copyhold estates (formerly smallb....) made in the year one
thousand eight hundred and four to which they will be
respectively intitled to be admitted after my decease they
having paid the ffines for the Grants thereof for their lives I
give devise and bequeath unto my son John my Copyhold estate
consisting of three yard lands in Netherton (formerly Hay....)
which is held for the lives of myself and my son William I give
and devise unto my son John his heirs and assigns all my
ffreehold estate situate in the parish of Kingston Bagpuize in
the County of Berks subject to the present mortgage thereon in
exoneration of my personal estate and also charged with and
subject to the payment of the sum of one hundred pounds which I
give and bequeath unto my son William to be paid within two
years after my decease but without interest for the same in the
meantime I give devise and bequeath unto my son James his
executors admins and assigns my copyhold estate late Batts) now
held for my life and his I also give to son James the sum of one
hundred pounds to be paid without interest within two years
after my decease I give unto my daughter Catherine Sellwood the
sum of one hundred pounds to be paid without interest within two
years after my decease I give and devise unto my son Charles
his executors administrators and assigns my four leasehold
closes in Southmoor and Draycott in the county of Berks with
their appurtenances and all my estate and interest therein at
the time of my decease I also give unto my said son Charles his
executors administrators and assigns all my copyhold estate
consisting of a house orchard and half a yard land in ffyfield
aforesaid now held for the lives of myself and my son William
And whereas my son John owes me the sum of eight hundred and
sixty pounds for the stock of his ffarm now I do give and
bequeath unto him four hundred pounds in order that he may repay
himself for two hundred pounds advanced by him by my desire to
my son William and two hundred pounds also advanced to my son
James and the remaining four hundred and sixty pounds shall be
accounted for by him as part of the residue of my estate but he
shall not be chargeable for any interest thereon or on any part
of the said eight hundred and sixty pounds And after the
payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and
the said legacies (except the said one hundred pounds to my son
William) I give devise and bequeath all the rest and residue of
my estate of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever unto my
sons Thomas John and Charles to be equally divided between them
And I appoint my son John sole executor of this my will In
witness whereof I the said Thomas Stone the elder the testator
have to this my last Will and testament contained in two sheets
of paper to the first sheet thereof set my hand and to the
second and last sheet my hand and seal the third day of January
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and

his presence at his request and in the presence of each other

son the sole Executor to whom Admon was granted limited so for
only as concerns all the right title and interest of him the
testator in & to the sums of 1500£ stock in the 3pr centum
reduced bank annuities & £100 Navy 5pr centum bank annuities now
standing in the name of John Dalton late of ffyfield in the
County of Berks |
