The Will of William Stokoe
I William Stokoe of Acomb in the County of
Northumberland Gentleman do make publish and declare this my last Will and
Testament in manner following that is to say ffirst I will and order that
all my just debts and funeral expences shall be fully paid and discharged as
soon as may be after my decease And I give and devise all my houses and
gardens and parcels of land with their and every of their appurtenances in
the Town and Township of Acomb aforesaid unto my dear Wife Elizabeth Stokoe
and her assigns for and dureing the term of her natural life And from and
after her decease I give and devise the same unto my eldest son Alexander
Stokoe his heirs and assigns for ever And I give and bequeath to my said son
Alexander Stokoe the sum of one hundred pounds in full satisfaction and
discharge of the like sum which I borrowed of him Also I give and bequeath
to my daughter Ann Macklood the sum of forty pounds To my daughter Jane
Baley the sum of fifty pounds To my Grandaughter Margery Rawford the sum of
forty pounds To my daughter Eleanor Stokoe for her many years attention and
long services the sum of one hundred pounds and to my Grandaughter Margery
Bartram Wife of William Bartram the sum of five pounds to be paid them
severally by my Executor hereafter named at the end of six calendar months
next after my decease and the decease of my said Wife Also I give and
bequeath to my daughter Isabel Stokoe the sum of fifty pounds to be paid to
her by my said son Alexander Stokoe at his discretion after the death of my
said Wife Also I give and bequeath all my linen to my said Daughter Eleanor
Stokoe save any little articles she may choose to give to her Sisters Also I
give and bequeath all my linen to my said Daughter Eleanor a bed and table
commonly called her own and any little odd things she may choose to keep
Also I give and bequeath all my linen to my said Daughter Isabel Stokoe the
bed she lies on with the bedding belonging thereto And as to all my Goods
Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature
quality or kind soever not hereinbefore otherwise disposed of I give and
bequeath the same to my dear Wife Elizabeth Stokoe for her life and after
her decease I give and bequeath the same to my said son Alexander Stokoe
subject to the payment of my debts legacies and funeral expences and I
appoint him my said son Alexander Stokoe sole Executor of this my last Will
and Testament And it is my will and desire that if my personal Estate and
Effects hereby given will answer that he will give to each of his Brothers
the sum of five pounds to put them into mourning And I desire that my
household goods save what I have otherwise disposed of by this my Will shall
be sold in order to defray expences And it is my earnest wish that if my
said son Alexander Stokoe shall be minded to sell and dispose of the houses
gardens and parcels of land in the Town and Township of Acomb to which he
will become intitled upon the death of my said dear Wife that he shall
dispose of the same to any of his Brothers that may choose to become
purchaser or purchasers thereof And I do hereby revoke all former and other
Wills at any time heretofore by me made either by word or writing In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the seventh day of March in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six_ Wm Stokoe
