The Will of William Stanton

 

William Stanton 1st October 1824 (probate) Will 21st September 1820   This is the last will and testament of me William Stanton of the Borough of Stafford, Cordwainer made the 21st day of September 1820 as follows, I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph all my weaving apparel that I may die possessed of; all my household furniture and other effects that I may have, to be disposed of either by private contract or public auction and the money arising therefrom to be divided amongst my children as follows. William, (Stanton inserted) Anne Cartwright, Maria Tirley, Frances Taylor and Mary Stanton in equal shares and proportions after paying off my just debts, funeral expenses & c and lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my brother John Stanton of the Borough of Stafford, Cordwainer my sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said William Stanton set my seal. W Stanton (in different hand suggesting the above was written by the solicitor) Signed sealed and delivered this 21st day of September 1820 in the presence of us - William Heath George Godwin   At Lichfield 1st October 1821 let a probate be granted to John Stanton the sole executor – being duly sworn & that the personal estate is not of the balance of one hundred pounds before me Chas Buckeridge surr.   Will held at Lichfield Archives
