The Will + Inventory of William Stanley

 

In the name of God Amen I William Stanley of great Storton in the County of Chester Husbandman being sicke and weake of body but of good and pfect memory (god be praised for the same) and considering the uncertainty of this life on earth and being desireous to settle things in order doe make constitute Ordaine and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to say first and principally I commend my soule to Almighty god my Creator hopeing to receive full pardon and free remission of all my Sinnes and to be Saved by the passion death and merits of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and redeemer and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buryed in such decent and Christian manner as to my Executor hereafter named shall be thought meet and Convenient and as touching such worldly Estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent me my will and meaneing is the same shall be Imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my will is Expressed Alsoe I leave all my goods and Chattells as well moveable as Immoveable of wt nature kind and quality Soever the same be (except wt legacyes shall hereafter be nominated herein) for and towards the takeing of a lease for three lives If the Landlord may (as I doubt not thereof) be compounded wth It is likewise my desire and will that after such Composition made my wife Anne Stanely Shall Enjoy my whole Estate In case shee keep her selfe unmarryed and in my name Untill my Sonne Richard Stanley shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years taking care ( as I doubt not but shee will) like a loveing and carefull mother to bring up my Children decently and honestly & in the feare of god Alsoe I will that the sayd Richard Stanley my Sonne Shall ( If it please god he soe long live) when he shall come to one and tweny years  of age as aforesaid enter upon the one halfe of the Tenement equally wth his mother. Alsoe I will that the sayd Richard when he shall come to possesse and enjoy the one halfe of the tenement as aforesaid shallpay or cause to be payd unto my three daughters Mary, Elizabeth and Martha Stanley every one of them tenne pounds or at the furthest at the end and Expiration of one yeare after he shall stand Interested in the same as aforesaid and if it please god to call any one of my three daughters aforesaid that then her part and portion so deceasing to be equally devided amongst the Survivors Alsoe I will that my sayd wife If a lease be taken as aforesd shall likewise pay tenne pounds to my sayd daughters to be equally divided amongst them as an augmentation to wt they are to be payd them by my said sonne above mentioned Alsoe I will that upon Consideration that a Lease be not taken after my decease ,and my wife Chance to marry againe, that then Shee to bring up the Children as a mother ought to doe (enjoying my whole Estate) Untill they come to be sixteen or seventeen years of age and then (If they or any of them soe long live)pay or cause to be payd amongst my Sonne and daughters aforesd thirty pounds and my sonne If it please god that he live the age of one and twenty to hould the half of the sd tenemt Alsoe I will that my Executrix here after nominated Doe pay or cause to be payd to any pty or otyes any fees sum or sums by way or in the name of a legacy or legacyes as I shall hereafter and in this my expresse and make mentione of. And first I leave to Anne Stanley wife of John Stanley my brother deceased and to her daughter twelve pence apiece Alsoe I leave to Hellen Wilcocke wife of Hugh Stanley another brother and to all her Children wch Shee has by the sd Hugh Stanley her former husband twelve pence apiece Alsoe I leave to Katherine .......worth my Sister & to her husband & Child every one of them twelve pence. Alsoe I leave to Hellen Barker another Sister and her Daughter eyther of them twelve pence  Alsoe I will that the Table, Dish board and Cupboard abide in the house wthout being removed and to Stand as Heyreloomes for my gd Sonne lastly I doe hereby Constitute and make Ann Stanly my sd wife my sole and onely Executrix of this my last will and testament And I doe hereby further appoint and ordayne Thomas Stanly of Great Storton aforesaid my near kinsman and Robt Ainsworth of Heswall my brother in law ffeofyes in Trust & overseers for the good and use of my Children to see this my last will and Testament in all points according to the true meaning thereof fully performed not doubting that they and both of them will be ready and willing to doe their Endeavor in and about the same. In witnes whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale The tenth day of August in the one and twentieth yeare of the raigne of King Charles the Second and in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six Hundred and sixty
