In the Name of God Amen I Robert
Sparrowhawk of Aston in the parish of Bampton in the County of
Oxon. Victualler being weak in Body but of perfect and Disposing
Mind and memory And Considering the Certainty of Death and the
uncertainty of the time thereof Do make and Ordain this my last
Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First I recomend my Soul to God who gave it, and my Body I
committ to the Earth to be Decently Buried at the Discretion of
my Executrix herein after named, And as touching the Disposition
of all my worldly substances and Effects I Give Devise and
Bequeath the same as ffollows First I will that all my just
Debts and ffuneral Expenses shall be paid & discharged within a
convenient time next after my Decease by my Executrix herein
after named Item I Give Devise and Bequeath all that my ffree
Lands in Bampton ffeild to be Equally divided between my two
eldest daughters Martha Sparrowhawk & Mary Sparrowhawk share and
share alike, Also I Give & bequeath to my said daughter Martha
the ffeather bed bedstead curtains & vallins thereto belonging
which usually stood over the Kitchen where I now lives (the tick
of the said Bed narrow strip'd) Also one large pouter platter
marked with W.S.RC.E.S. on the one side & MS. on the other side
thereof in Memory of and Gave to her by her Godfathers and
Godmother. Also I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Mary
Sparrowhawk aforesaid my Chest of Drawers and one middlesized
pouter platter mark'd with W.B.M.S. on one side thereof. Also I
Give Devise and Bequeath all that my Dwelling House Poie?
Commons & Appurtenances thereto belonging held by Lease from the
Right Honable the Earl of Coventry to my now Wife Elizabeth
Sparrowhawk for and Dursing and untill the time that my Son
Robert shall arrive to the age of ffour and Twenty years and
then my Will & Desire is that my said house with the
appurtenances as aforesaid shall be to and for the only proper
use and behoof of my Son Robert aforesaid for & devising my
Lease or interest therein Provided and my Will & meaning herein
is that my said Wife Elizabeth Sparrowhawk shall live and have
an abiding place in my said house so long as she shall keep
herself my widow and if she shall marry before my said son is
arrived to the age of twenty ffour years as aforesaid thou ...
shall live in my said house as aforesaid till my said son is
arrived to the age as aforesaid but no longer. And if it shall
happen that my said son Robert shall dye before he is arrived to
the age as aforesaid then my Will and Desire is that after the
time aforesaid his portion as aforesaid shall be equally divided
between my two daughters Elizabeth Sparrowhawk and Sarah
Sparrowhawk And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my
beloved wife Elizabeth Sparrowhawk sole Executrix of this my
Will and Residuary Leggatee and I do Give Devise and Bequeath
unto her all the rest residue and remainder of my goods
chattells moneys debts bills bonds and all other of my worldly
substance & Effects not herein before disposed of hereby
revoking all former Wills by me made & declaring this only to be
my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Robert
Sparrowhawk have to this my Last Will and Testament sett my hand
& seal this 23rd day of April in the Year of our Lord One
thousand seven hundred and fiffty

names as witnesses in the presence of and at the request of the
