The Will of Richd Sparrowhawk

 

In the Name of God Amen I Richd Sparrowhawk of Aston in the Parish of Bampton and County of Oxford Inn Keeper calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament (that is to say) Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching my worldly Estate I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form 1st I give and bequeath to Ann my beloved Wife during her natural life that my Estate with all the Appurtenances thereunto belonging lying and situate in the Parish of Kempsford and County of Gloucester known and called by the Name of Horscutt that is to say so much thereof as shall arise from it by way of Rent for her Private use and disposal as also the Interest of money already due or that shall hereafter become due now in the Hands and Payable by Mr Thos Posse of Welford in the Parish and County foresaid also the interest due or that may become due from Mr Robert ffox of Aston in the Parish of Bampton and County of Oxford 2nd I give and bequeath to my son Thoms Sparrowhawk at the decease of Ann my Wife all that my Estate called Horscutt with all the Appurtenances thereunto belonging lying and situate as aforesaid held by Lease during the Term thereof Also the Sum of twenty Pounds of good and lawful English money to be paid to him the said Thomas Sparrowhawk by and at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named within one whole Year after my decease 3rd I give to my Son in Law John Leake the Sum of five Pounds of lawful English money to be paid him as the above 4th I give to my Grandson Benjamin Yeates the Sum of ten Pounds to be paid as the former the whole to be raised from Cash in hand bills bonds Notes and Clubb and to be collected and levied by and at the discretion of Mr Edward Yeates of Abingdon Berks whom I constitute and ordain my Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking hereby all other Wills bequests and Executors what or whomsoever willing and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of September and in the Year of our Lord 1776 Richd SparrowhawkSigned Sealed and declared by the said Richd Sparrowhawk to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us
