The Will of Thomas Sparrowhawck

 

The last Will &Testament of me Thomas Sparrowhawck of Chesham in the County of Bucks Labourer ffirst I give & devise to my daughter Martha Sparrowhawck all that my Cottage or tenement with the Garden heredits & appurts thereto belonging or in way appertaining situate & being in Chesham aforesaid now in my own occupation & which I lately purchased of Mr John Marshall To hold the same to her my said daughter Martha Sparrowhawck her heirs & assigns forever Provided nevertheless & my Will & mind is & I do hereby direct that it shall be lawfull to & for my Sister in law Sarah Putnam to live & reside in my said Cottage or Tenement with my said daughter for & during so long as such part of the term of her natural life as she shall think proper without paying any rent or taxes or other Gratuity for the same And whereas Admiral fforrest by his Will bequeathed to me an Annuity of ffourteen Pounds for my life & departed this life in or about the Year 1770 & considerable arrears of the said Annuity are now due to me Now in case any part or parts exceeding One Hundred Pounds of the arrears of such Annuity should after my decease be paid to or recovered by my representatives Then I give to my said Sister in law Sarah Putnam Twenty Pounds thereof to be paid immediately on the receipt of such arrears And if my Representative should after my death receive or recover as much as three hundred pounds of the arrears of such annuity then I give & bequeath to the said Sarah Putnam ffifty pounds thereof to be paid immediately after the receipt of such Arrears And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Personal Estate effects whatsoever & wheresoever & of what nature sort or kind soever the same is can shall or may be at the time of my decease which shall remain after answering satisfying & paying all such just debts as I shall owe at the time of my decease my funeral charges the expences of proving this my Will & all other charges & Expences incident there to I give & bequeath the same & every Part thereof to my said daughter Martha Sparrowhauck to & for her own use & benefit And I do hereby nominate & appoint The Revd John Simpson of Chesham aforesaid Clerk sole Exor of this my Will hereby revoking and making void all former Wills & Codicils by me made declaring this only to be my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I the said
Thomas Sparrowhawck the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand & seal this 15th day of July in the Year of our Lord 1807
