This is the Last Will and Testament of my JOHN
SOWDEN of Booth Bank in Halifax in the County of York Farmer and
Horse Dealer. I give and bequeath the Legacy or sum of £100 to my
natural son SOWDEN BULMER such legacy to be payable out of my
personal estate And as to my real estate and the rest residue and
remainder of my personal estate I give devise and bequeath the same
unto my Trustees hereinafter named upon Trust that my Trustees shall
sell call in and convert into money the same or such part thereof as
shall not consist of money and shall with an out of the moneys
produced .... pay my funeral and testamentary expences and debts and
the legacy hereinbefore bequeathed And shall stand possessed of the
said residuary trust moneys and the investments .. hereinafter
called the residuary trust funds , In trust to divide the same into
seven equal parts or shares And to pay one of such parts to each of
my children namely EMMA, SARAH, ELLEN, CLARA and MARTHA ANN and my
natural children namely FLORRIE BULMER, LINDA BULMER and the said
SOWDEN BULMER provided always that is any child or natural child of
mine shall die in my lifetime leaving a child or children who shall
survive .... shall take the share or the parent ....
And I appoint my friends ANNIE BULMER of Booth
Bank in Halifax aforesaid Spinster and SUTCLIFFE BREAR of Ladyship
Ovenden near Halifax aforesaid Farmer, to be the Trustees and
Executors of this my will and Guardians of my infant children during
their minority In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this

On the 8th May 1894 Probate of this Will was
granted to ANIE BULMER spinster and SUTCLIFFE BREAR the Executors
Be it known that John Sowden of Booth Bank in
Halifax in the County of York Farmer and Horse Dealer who died on
the 15th April 1894 at Booth Bank aforesaid .... probate was granted
to Annie Bulmer of 14 Legrams Terrace, Listerhills, Bradford
Spinster and Sutcliffe Brear of White Birk Farm, Ladyship near
Halifax, farmer....
Gross value of Personal estate £264 12s 2d
Note:
At the time of his decease Annie Bulmer may
just have been pregnant.
In the 1901
census she called herself Annie Sowden, widow,
and had with
her some of the children mentioned plus another son John Sowden age
6 yrs. |
