The Will of John Snoad

 

In the name of God Amen The sixteenth day of February in the eleventh year of the Raigne of King William the Third over England Anno Dom 1698 I John Snoad of Stonnar in the Isle of Thannett in the County of Kent yeoman being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory (praised be God for the same) considering the uncertainty of this transitory life and being desirous to settle that Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me doe make and declare this to be by last Will and Testament in Writing in manner and forme following First and principally I yeilde my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my Creator with full assurance and steadfast hope in my Redeemer Christ Jesus to live with him eternally after this my mortall life shall be ended And my body I bequeath to the Earth whereof it was first framed to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named Also I doe give and bequeath unto my Son Joshua and my daughters Anna and Elizabeth one shilling apiece to be paid to them by my Executrix hereinafter named within one month next after my decease all the rest and residue of all and singular my goods Cattle Chattells Stock leashold stuffe and personall estate whatsoever and of what nature quality or degree whatsoever the same shall exist and ne my Debts funeral charges and probate of this my Will being first paid and discharged I doe give and bequeath the same unto my loveing wife Mary and I doe hereby make and ordaine my said loveing wife Mary sole Executrix of this my Will and Testament Provided always that in case the said Mary my said wife shall happen to marry after my decease Then my will and meaning is that she my said Wife and Executrix shall within one month next after such said marriage pay or cause to be paid unto my loveing freind William Harvey of Waldershire in the said County Kent the sume of one hundred and fifty pounds of lawfull money of England to and for the use of my said son Joshua and my said daughters Anna and Elizabeth separately to be divided between them share and share alike and in case any of my said children shall be dead before that time Then my will is that the share of him her or them soe dying shall be paid and distributed to or amongst him her or them who shall be surviving Anything in this my Will contained to the contrary thereof notwithstanding In Witness whereof I the said John Snoad to this my last Will and Testament in one sheet of paper contained have hereunto set my hand and seale the said sixteenth day of February Anno Dom 1698
