The Will of Joseph Smith

 

I Joseph Smith of South Cheriton in the Parish of Horsington in the County of Somerset being of sound mind do make this my last Will and testament as follows that is to say I give and bequeath unto my wife Emma Smith the whole of my landed and other property of whatever description title or name the same may be without any reserve whatever to have and to hold the same for the full term of her natural life and after the death of my said wife Emma Smith it is my Will and desire that the whole of my property be divided between my children share and share alike and it is further my Will and desire that in case my said wife Emma Smith should die before my youngest child shall attain the age of twenty one my property shall not be divided nor sold till my youngest child have attained the age of twenty one years And I appoint my said wife Emma Smith and Robert Wadman Senior of South Cheriton aforesaid to be executrix and executor of this my last Will and Testament

I hereby direct my said Executrix and Executor to pay and reimburse themselves by and out of the money that shall come to their hands by virtue of this my last Will and Testament all reasonable and necessary costs charges and expences which they may be put to or sustain in or about the execution of the trusts of this my Will or in any way relating thereto I publish and declare this to be my last will and testament made by me the seventh day of December one thousand eight hundred and thirty one -

Joseph Smith died on 8th December 1831 and his will was proved in Wells on 10th August 1832. Effects under one thousand pounds.
