The Will of John Harwood Simpson

 

I,  JOHN HARWOOD SIMPSON of Number 1 Hargwyne Street Stockwell in the County of London Gentleman hereby revoke all testamentary instruments heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last will I appoint my wife Jane Ann Simpson and my son in law Horace Bradlaugh Lakeman to be the EXECUTRIX AND EXECUTOR of this my will and trustees of this my will for the several purposes hereinafter expressed or referred to I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate unto my trustees Upon trust that they shall sell call in and collect the same and shall out of the moneys arising thereby and all other moneys forming part of my estate pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and death duties and shall hold the residue of the said moneys and the investments and income thereof Upon trust to pay to my said wife from time to time such sum or sums as and when they shall in their absolute and uncontrolled discretion think fit for her maintenance or benefit and I declare that if at the decease of my said wife any part of the said residuary moneys or the  investments or income thereof shall remain in their hands or unapplied as aforesaid then I bequeath the same unto such of my children as shall be living at the decease of my said wife in equal shares as tenants in common And I direct and declare that if my said wife shall predecease me then I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate unto such of my children as shall be living at my death in equal shares as tenants in common And I declare that my trustees may in their absolute and uncontrolled discretion make such arrangement as they may think reasonable or proper in relation to any loan made to me by my son Edward Marsh Simpson IN WITNESS whereof I the said John Harwood Simpson have to this my will set my hand this sixth day of May One thousand nine hundred and nine – J H Simpson - -  Signed and acknowledged by the above named John Harwood Simpson as his will in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence and in the presence of each other hereto subscribe our names as witnesses – Julian Roney Solicitor Orient House 42 – 45 New Broad Street E C  --  -- H P Geard Articled Clerk with Roney & Co Solicitors Orient House 42 – 45 New Broad Street E C.

 

On the 5th day of July 1910 Probate of this Will was granted to Horace Bradlaugh Lakeman one of the Executors.

 

BE IT KNOWN  THAT John Harwood Simpson of 1 Hargwyne Street Stockwell in the county of Surrey died on the 13th day of May 1910 at 1 Hargwyne Street aforesaid

 AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date hereunder written the last Will and Testament of the said deceased was proved and registered in the Principal Probate Registry of His Majesty’s High Court of Justice, and that administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid Court to Horace Bradlaugh Lakeman of Church Passage Oldham in the county of Lancaster civil servant one of the executors named in the said Will – power reserved to the other executor
