In the Name of God Amen I GEORGE SIMPSON of
the parish of St Andrews Holborne in the County of Middlesex,
Cutler, being indisposed in body but of a sound and disposing mind
and memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of this
life do make and ordaine this my Last Will and Testament in manner
following. First and principally I recommend my soul into the hands
of Almighty God my Body I resign to the Earth to be decently buryed
and as touching the disposition of all such temporal Estate as God
hath blessed me with I give and bequeath as hereafter mentioned.
Item I give devise and bequeath to my moving
wife SARAH SIMPSON ... my two messuages or tenements with
appurtenances situate and being in Old Southampton Buildings in the
parish aforesaid ... in the occupation of JOHN REYNOLD and WILLIAM
BOUNER gentleman provided my wife keeps hereself unmarryed but if
she should happen to marry then my desire is the said two houses
shall go to my three Sisters MARY COLE wife of JOSEPH COLE, PHILICE
SMITH wife of ISAAC SMITH and ELIZABETH ADAMS wife of JOHN ADAMS
[and] after my wife's decease to be equally divided among them share
and share alike.
Item all those my several Parcels of land
situate and being in the Lordship of Bows in the County of York
which was given to me by WILLIAM HUTCHINSON Esq to my loveing wife
for her life and after my wife's decease I desire the said several
parcels of land may be sold and the moneys rising thereout I give to
my said three Sisters to be equally divided among them share and
share alike.
I give and devise unto my two Sisters MARY
COLE and ELIZABETH ADAMS their heirs and assigns all my three
messuages situate at Pye Corner in West Smithfield. And my will and
desire is that the husbands of my said Sisters shall have no Power
to sell and dispose of the said messuages ..... And my desire is
that one of my said sisters shall pay the Ground Rent of the said
three messuages which shall be deducted and allowed to the other of
them.
Item I give devise and bequeath to my said
sister PHILLICE SMITH to her heirs and assigns... my two houses in
East Smithfield the Corner of Parratt Alley and my desire is also
that the husband of my said sister shall have no power to sell and
dispose of the said houses ....
Item I give devise and bequeath to my nephew
HENRY RAVENHILL his heirs and executors ... as an Encouragement for
him to collect and gather in his ?clients? Rents my two small brick
messuages with appurtenances situate and being on Saffron Hill in a
Pave Court .... in occupation of GILBERT CRACKEN and JOHN RIDLEY
Item I further give devise and bequeath to my
loving SARAH SIMPSON for her life all my messuages of tenements with
appurtenances known by the Sign of the Crowne the back door going
into the said Court, and after my wife's decease I give the said
messuages or tenements to HENRY RAVENHILL ....
Item my will is that the Personal estate which
I have afterwards given to my said wife I desire that the sum of
£100 shall goe to my said three Sisters to be equally divided after
my wife's decease.
I give to SAMUEL NEWTON of the Parish of St
Martin le Grand London and ROBERT HEMING of the parish of St Andrews
Holborne in County of Middlesex Haberdasher of Hatts each of them £5
desiring them to be my Trustees and see everything in this will is
performed not al all doubting but they will take such care to the
utmost of their Powers.
Item I give 40s to the Poor of the Parish of
St Andrews Holborne in the Liberty above the Bars
Item I give to JOHN my servant 40 shillings
provided he shall goe away from his mistress if she has not any mind
to keep him any longer.
Item all the rest and residue of all my
Personal Estate moneys household goods rings and plate of what
nature soever the same to be after my debts Funerall and Legacys
payd I give to my loveing wife her heirs and assigns. And lastly I
make and ordain my said wife Executrix of this my Last Will and
Testament I doe hereby revoke all former will or wills by me
heretofore made. In witness I the said GEORGE SIMPSON to this my
Last Will and Testament have herunto set my hand and seal 3 February
1710
