The Will of Thomas Simons
In The Name of God Amen I THOMAS SIMONS of the Old
Artilary Ground in the Liberty of the Tower of London Taylor do make
publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form
following that is to say first and pricipally I commit my Soul into the
hands of Almighty God that gave it my body to the Earth to be decently
buried in the burying Ground commonly known called Tyndals Burying
Ground in Bunhill ffields in the County of Middlesex as near my late
Wife as can be at the discretion of my Executors herein after named and
as to that Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I
give and dispose of the same in manner and form following that is to say
I give and bequeath to my Nephew JOHN SIMONS to my Nephew WILLIAM SIMONS
and to my Niece ELIZABETH SIMONS Sons and Daughter of my brother JOHN
SIMONS deceased the sum of twenty pounds each to be paid them at their
respective ages of twenty one years or days of Marriage which shall
first happen but in case either of them the said JOHN WILLIAM or
ELIZABETH SIMONS shall happen to die before he she or they become
Entitled to their respective Legacys of aforesaid then the part and
share of him her or them so dying shall go to the Survivor or Survivors
of them to be equally divided them share and share alike And I do hereby
order and direct that my Executors herein after named to place the same
out at interest on the best sucurity that they can get for the same as
soon after my decease as conveniently may be And I do order that the
interest arising thereby be respectively paid them at the times they
shall respectively become entitled to their respective Legacys And
whereby HENRY SIMPSON of Deptford in the county of Kent Taylor stands
indebted to me in the sum of forty pounds upon Bond now I do hereby
order and direct that my Executors do deduct out of the said Bond the
sum of ten pounds Item I give and bequeath to ELIZABETH STEPHENS Widow
of JOB STEPHENS Citizen and Carpenter of London deceased my Silver
porringer marked with the Letters E:W and also my two best Silver Spoons
marked with the Letters I:E:S and to her Son WILLIAM STEPHENS and
Daughter ELLENOR STEPHENS the sum of ten pounds each of good and lawful
money of Great Britain to be paid them at their respective ages of
twenty one years but in case either of them the said ELLENOR STEPHENS of
WILLIAM STEPHENS shall happen to dye before they shall become Entitled
to their respective Legacys then I order that the part or share of him
or her so dying shall be paid to the Survivor Also I give and bequeath
to JOHN POTTS of the parish of Aldermanbury in the City of London
Cordwainer my Silver Shoe Buckles and Silver Belt Buckles Item I give to
THOMAS LINDOP of the parish of Saint Michael Crooked Lane London
Cheesemonger and to Mr. DANIEL HENWOOD of the parish of Saint Sepulchre
London Warehouseman the sum of five pounds each for their trouble that
they will be put unto by me as of the Trust reposed in them by this my
Will and which I appoint them joint Executors of And I do order that
they do deduct and retain out of my Estate and Effects all such Charges
and Expenses that they may be in any ways put unto by means of their
said Executorship And that they be not answerable the one for the other
or for the Acts and Deeds the one for the other but each of them for his
own Acts and Deeds only nor for any loss that shall or may happen to my
Estate without their willfull neglect or default And as to all the rest
residue and remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and
wheresoever of what nature kind or quality soever the same shall or may
be after payment of my just debts Legacys and ffuneral expenses I give
and bequeath the same unto and among the following Children of my
Brother RICHARD SIMONS that is to say THOMAS SIMONS JOHN SIMONS RICHARD
SIMONS and WILLIAM SIMONS to be equally divided between them share and
share alike to be paid to them immediately after my said debts Legacys
and ffunerall expenses be paid and satisfied And I do hereby revoking
and making void all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore
made make publish and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament
In witness whereof I the said THOMAS SIMONS the Testator have hereunto
set my hand and Seal this twelfth of November in the twntieth year of
the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of
Great Britain ffrance Ireland King Defender of the ffaith and so forth
in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty six - THOS.
SIMONS signed sealed published and declared by the said THOMAS SIMONS
the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of
us who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each
other have subscribed our names as witnesses - THOS. FOWLER of ffarrows
