The Will of Elizabeth Sidey

 

In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Sidey of the Hamlet of Mile End Town in the Parish of Stepney in the County of Middlesex Widow being at this time of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) First and Principally I commend my Soul to God that gave it hoping (through the Merits of my blessed Saviour) to inherit Eternal life and my body I commit to the Earth desiring that it may be kept at least one Week after I am dead and if not Offensive a Week longer, after which I desire it may be carried in a Hearse and four Horses attended by two Coaches and ffour, to be interred at Shadwell, and that Mr Ward may be the undertaker of my said ffuneral. And as to the Disposal of my Temporal Estate, I will and bequeath the same (my Debts and ffuneral Expences being first discharged) in manner following First I give unto my beloved Neice Elizabeth Chandler Wife of Samuel Chandler the Younger of this parish Mason the sum of one hundred Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain Item I Will and bequeath unto Mrs Deborah Rodwell Wife of Captain Emanuel Rodwell the Sum of fifty Pounds of like lawful money, and likewise seven of my best Mahogany Chairs and my best set of China And whereas there is at this time the sum of four hundred Pounds Sterling money due to me from the Executors and Administrators of Henry Lascells Esquire deceased. I hereby dispose of the Same (provided it is paid) as followeth I give and bequeath the Sum of one hundred pounds thereof to my Brother Capt Emanuel Rodwell And I give unto my Nephew James Gregory ten Pounds more of the said money and a Room of Goods which I leave to the discretion of my Executor hereafter named Item I bequeath unto my Neice Mary Sidey Brasinton the Sum of fifty Pounds thereof And the remaining part of the said four hundred Pounds (after the above mentioned room of Goods are purchased) I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Chandler daughter of the before mentioned Samuel and Elizabeth Chandler as also all my Wearing Apparel and all the rest and residue of my Goods and Chattels whatsoever not already mentioned And I hereby nominate and appoint the above mentioned Captain Emanuel Rodwell to be whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and do revoke and make void all Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of January one thousand seven hundred and fifty four
