The Will of Thomas Shaw

 

In the Year of our Lord 1834 and 18 September I THOMAS SHAW of the parish of Waltham in the County of Leicester being of this time of sound mind do hereby declare this to be my last will and testament and first I give and bequeath to my wife CHARLOTTE and whom I hereby appoint my sole executrix my freehold estate of Ellergill in the parish of Ravenstonedale in the County of Westmoreland and I also give and bequeath to my said wife Charlotte all my personal property whatsoever save and except the sum of £50 sterling to be paid free of legacy duty to the Rector of the aforesaid parish of Waltham to be by him invested in such securities as he shall see fit and the yearly interest thereof to be at the sole and entire disposal of the Rector of the parish of Waltham aforesaid and of his Successors in the Rectory for the benefit of the poor of the said Parish of Waltham.
