BE IT KNOWN that Hiram Shaw, of Nursery
Cottage, Richmond, Handsworth, Sheffield, in the County of York
who at the time of his death had a fixed placed of abode at
Nursery Cottage aforesaid, within the District of the West
Riding of the County of York, died on the twelfth day of March
1901 at Nursery Cottage aforesaid,
AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date
hereunder written the last Will and Testament of the said
deceased was proved and registered in the District Probate
Registry of His Majesty’s High Court of Justice at Wakefield,
and that administration of all the estate
which by law devolves to and vests in the personal
representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid
Court to Richard Crosland (in the said Will spelt Crossland) of
Woodhouse Lane, in the City of Leeds, printer and Stationer, the
sole Executor named in the said Will.

This is the last Will and Testament of me
Hiram Shaw of Richmond near Sheffield in the County of York late
Nurseryman and Seedsman I give and bequeath all my household
furniture plate linen china and all other the household effects
which may be in and upon my Dwellinghouse at the time of my
decease unto my three daughters Mary Emily Barber Elizabeth Ann
Frost and Ellen Bates in equal shares and proportions as they
may mutually agree amongst themselves but in case they fail to
agree I direct my executor for the time being to sell the same
in such manner as he may think proper and to divide the proceeds
amongst my said three daughters I give and bequeath to my
trustee and executor the Policy of Assurance effected by me in
the Mutual Life Assurance Company and the sum of Five hundred
pounds due under such Policy together with all bonuses thereon
upon trust for him to pay the same unto my said three daughters
in the following shares and proportions absolutely namely the
sum of two hundred pounds to the said Mary Emily Barber the sum
of Two hundred pounds to the said Ellen Bates and the sum of one
hundred pounds to the said Elizabeth Ann Frost I give devise and
bequeath to my son Walter Shaw the piece or parcel of land
together with the Dwellinghouse thereon in which I now live and
which was leased to my and to Benjamin Crosland by the late
William Jeffcock by Lease dated the twenty fifth day of March
one thousand eight hundred and sixty one for and during the
remainder of the term of the said Lease I give the two leasehold
dwellinghouses nearest the Church at Handsworth and which are
now in the occupation of James Brookes and ___ Moore to my said
daughter Mary Emily Barber for her own use and benefit
absolutely I give other two of the said dwellinghouses adjoining
thereto and now in the occupation of ____ Ancliffe and _____
Wilkinson with the gardens thereto at the back to my said
daughter Elizabeth Ann Frost for her own use and benefit
absolutely And I give the remaining two of the said
dwellinghouses now in the occupation of ____ Beercroft and Harry
Dawson with the gardens thereto at the back to my said daughter
Ellen Bates for her own use and benefit absolutely And I appoint
my friend Richard Crossland of Woodhouse Lane in the City of
Leeds Printer and Stationer sole Trustee and Executor of this my
Will In witness whereof I have to this and the preceding sheet
of paper set my hand this twenty eight day of December one
thousand eight hundred and ninety seven

at the same time who at his request in his
presence and in the presence of each other
have hereto subscribed our names as
witnesses
