[FATHER OF ISABELL PICKERSGILL NEE
SEWARD]
In the Name of God amen, I George Seward of
Gragrett within the County of York yeoman being weake in Body but
sound in Mind and of Good and perfect Memorie praised be Almighty
God for the same But Calling to Mind the uncertaintie of this
Transitorie Life heare on Earth, and that all flesh must yield unto
Death, when it shall please God to Call, and being Desirous to Satle
things in order before I Leave this world Doe make and ordaine this
my Last will and Testament in Manner and forme following, first and
principally I Commend my soule of Almighty God my Maker, hopeing
that thorrow the Meretorious Death and passion of Jesus Christ my
onely Saviour and Redeemer to receive free pardon and full remission
of all my sins and my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken to
be Buried in such Christian and Decent Manner as to my Executrix
hereafter named shall be thought mete and Convenient, and as to my
worldly Estate and such things as the Lord in Mercy far above my
desert hath blest me withall, I give and Dispose the same as
followeth
Imps I give and bequeath unto
Isabell Seward my Daughter, the sum of Fifty pounds, the same, to be
paid to her, when she shall Accomplish the age of one and Twenty
years
Item I give and bequeath unto Isabell Seward
my now wife, all and singuler the yearely Incum and profits of all
my Houses and Lands Lying and being at Gragrett aforesaid dureing
her Naturall Life (if she Continues my widow soe long) but if she
Marries againe and takes another Husband, then I revoke this my gift
to her, and doth give and bequeath to her, the third part of all my
said Houses and Lands dureing her Naturall Life, and the other two
parts, to Isabell my Daughter, to be Entered unto and of att.. the
time of the Said Marage by my Trustees hereafter named, to be
managed for the use of my said Daughter and I doe give and bequeath
unto Isabell Seward my said Daughter after the Death and Decease of
the said Isabell my now wife [who, by the way, lived to be 93!!!]
, all and singuler my said Houses and Lands with there and Every
of there appurtenances to her and her heires for Ever, but if it
shall hapen that my said Daughter Isabell Seward shall Leave and
Depart this Life before she shall accomplish the age of Twenty one
yeares, Then I give and bequeath unto John Seward and Thomas Seward
my Nephews, all my said Houses and Lands, with appurtenances Lying
and being at Graygrett aforesaid Equally betwixt them to Enter to,
and of the same, at the Death and Decease of Isabell my now wife
Item all the rest of my goods and Chattells,
after my Debts paid and Funerall Expences Discharged, I give and
bequeath unto Isabell Seward my now wife, whome I doe make and
ordaine Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament, and I do
heareby Constitute and appoint George Raynard and William Horseman,
Supervisors and Trustees, to see that this my Last Will and
Testament, be fairely Executed according to the true intent and
Meaneing heareof.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seale the Four and twentieth day of May in the …enth yeare of
the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord William the third, by the Grace of
God, of England ...land Prince of …and ,
