In the Name of God, Amen, I, Isabel Sephton,
Widow, of the township of Scarisbrick and County of Lancaster, being
of sound mind, memory, and understanding but mindful of my
mortality, do this 27th day December 1829 make this my last Will and
Testament in form and manner following; that is to say:
I order and direct my Funeral Expenses and just debts to be first of
all paid-
I give and bequeath to my married daughters Ellen Houghton and
Margery Bond 10 Pounds each and also to James Banks the illegitimate
son of my deceased daughter Isabel Banks the sum of 5 Pounds and I
order and direct that the above legacies shall be paid three months
after my decease -I also give and bequeath to my unmarried daughter
Elizabeth Banks all my Household Furniture of whatsoever kind or
description I may die possessed of as well as the Cow and also all
my Money or Monies whether in hand or out on security with this
proviso that she receive the Interest of the said Monies for her
support and maintenance but in case this is found insufficient I
authorize my my herein named Executors to apply such portions of the
Stock, from time to time for this purpose as they in their
discretion may deem fit
But provided she marries then I will and direct that my said
daughter Elizabeth only retain the Household Furniture & cow and
that the Money or Monies left to her in this my Will shall be
equally divided share and share alike amongst my Children, Ellen
Houghton, Margery Bond, William Banks and Elizabeth Banks. And in
case of the death of my Daughter Elizabeth previously to her
illegitimate Son William Banks coming to the Age of fifteen years I
order and direct that the Interest of the Monies left to my said
daughter Elizabeth be applied to and for his use in the bringing up
& education of the said Wm Banks, till he arrives at the age of
fifteen years and provided this Interest be found insufficient for
this purpose I further authorize & empower my Executors herein after
named to apply such portions of the Stock, from time to time as they
in their discretion may think proper -And in Case of the death of my
daughter Elizabeth previously to her illegitimate son Wm Banks
coming to the age of fifteen years it is my Will and I hereby order
and direct that on the said Wm Banks attaining the age of fifteen
years the said Monies shall be equally divided, share and share
alike amongst my surviving children -
I hereby nominate, appoint and constitute my affectionate Son
William Banks of Burscough and Thomas Pilkinton Farmer of
Scarisbrick Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do
also order and direct that they receive a reasonable compensation
for their loss of time & trouble in execution the different duties
arising from this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I
have set my hand and seal the day and year before mentioned.

The first day of May 1834 William Banks one of
the Executors in this will named was sworn in common form (power
being saved to Thomas Pilkington the other Executor therein also
named to take upon him the execution of the said will when he shall
lawfully request the same) and he further made oath that the
personal Estate and Effects of the Testator within the Diocese of
Chester were under the value of £100
