In the name of God Amen I Gilbert Sephton of
Scarisbrick in parish of Ormskirk and the County of Lancaster,
yeoman, being very sick & weak of body but of perfect mind & memory
thanks be given unto God for the same therefore calling to mind the
mortality of my body do make & ordain this my last will and
testament this 11th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and forty eight in the manner & form following that is
to say principally & first of all I give & recommend my soul into
the hand of almighty God that gave it and for my body I recommend it
to the earth to be buried in a Christian like & decent manner at the
discretion of my executors hereafter named nothing doubting but at
the general Resurrection I shall receive the same by the mighty
power of God and as touching such worldly effects that God has
bestowed upon me in this life I distribute the same in the following
mannner and form.
Imprimus I make & ordain my dear wife Alice Sephton the whole
executrix of this my last will and testament until my son John
Sephton comes to years of twenty one. Those years being expired I
give & bequeath to my son John Sephton my whole Estate known by ye
name of Sephton's but it is will and mind that my son John Sephton
pay the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of England to my daughter
Ann in two years time after he possesses the said estate. Therefore
I revoke and annul all and every will and testament, legacys and
bequests by me made before ratifying and confirming this & none
other to be my last will

Alice Sephton, the soul Executrix named in the within written will
